MLB: Rangers rip Orioles 30-3, get most runs since 1900
Box Score:

Mark who? It doesn't look like the Rangers were missing recently traded Mark Texeira in this game. Jarrod Saltalamacchia (fit that on a back of a jersey lol), the player the Rangers got in exchange for Texeira, was 4-for-6 with 7 RBI as the #8 hitter in the lineup. All I can say is.........whoa.

wonder if they saved enough for the 2nd game of the double header. 4-3 in the 4th right now.

Crazy thing is that they were scoreless for the first 3 innings and got their 30 runs in the last 6 innings including 16 in the final 2. Both the 8 & 9 hitter drive in 7 runs a piece. That has to be a record for 8-9 hole production in a single game. It takes the Jays 8 & 9 hitters a month to drive in that many runs.

Wow. It was looking good for the Orioles in the first 3, until it started to fall apart. And oh did it ever fall apart.

The best part of it is that in a 30-3 game, some guy actually got the save.

You don't see the 3 inning save much anymore. A far cry from the days of Goose Gossage or Catfish Hunter who often threw the final 3 innings to get saves.

broke the first rule

Hold up, they had 30 runs, but had 29 hits and 1 error? I find to be baffling as well for some reason.

Didn't Baltimore just extend their manager's contract a day or two ago?
EDIT: and wow that was at Camden Yards too.. hahaha!

I had to work this game, talk about crazy. Suprising that the romp was done in only 3:20 or so; then Texas promptly went out 25 minutes later and won the second game of the doubleheader.
Everything the Rangers touched in the first game was a hit, bloops, blasts, dribblers, you name it. Coming on the same day as they extend their manager Dave Tremblay for next season...
- most runs scored by a team in modern day history (since 1900)
- Texas sets franchise record for most hits in a game and most runs scored in a game (ironically, they broke their own record of 26 runs scored against Baltimore)
- Two innings in which they had more than 10 hits

The funniest part of this to me is that the Rangers struck out 11 times and left NINETEEN PLAYERS on base ....
... and still scored 30 runs.

8 walks
My favorite is:
"Bell pitched to 7 batters in the 8th."
Sheesh, 7 batters without an out recorded, think the manager would come get him after about 4 or 5!

At a certain point you just want to get through the game so your bullpen is still intact for the next game of the Double Header. By the 8th inning it was already something like 14-3.

I don't suppose there was 4 consecutive walks or anything? I don't watch much baseball, but I can't see it happening too often where I guy rounds every base and scores on walks alone.

Indeed. And the only reason he pitched to only seven batters that inning was that he was over 50 pitches, which is a lot for a reliever.
My favorite stat: The Rangers batting average that game was .509.
