He also missed part of that season due to getting cancer treatment. Just an absolutely insane feat...

its really a shame that Lemieux missed games in his 199 point season, would have possibly broken the 215 point record. So impressive.

No one's naysaying McDavid's top tier skill and ability.
We're refuting the claim that he's the undisputed best in the game, which still gets peddled ad nauseum without being actually fact checked for accuracy.
He's been #2 or #3 statistically in the few years since his career year.
A bridesmaid, if you will. But not "best". And still no cups to speak of.

Can we say he is the best bridesmaid, ever?

Can't really dispute that.
Runner up x2 with an MVP award in there. More blue balls at the Olympics after an OT whoopsie.
He might be one of the greatest bridesmaids to ever lace them up.

IMHO, McDavid is the best:
He is the best diver ever.
He is the best whiner ever.
And...he is the best bridesmaid ever.

Not sure about that one. I suspect he looks ridiculous in a dress.

That's the point, you can't look prettier than the bride.

McDavid in a bridesmaid's dress would draw attention away from the bride for an entirely different reason!

Maybe that's why he wore a drawstring sweat suit at that all-star weekend. He didn't want to out-shine the others there.
His elite bridesmaid game started early.

OK, good point. But dayum, it's an ugly point all the same.

Here’s why he’s not “the greatest player on earth”.
Last night, with the empty net, the guy never left the ice. And he got his stat padding but zero influence on the outcome goal. Literally only matters to personal stats.
Wouldn’t “his sharp piercing eyes” sit themselves down on the bench knowing that the job was done, game was won, and it would be okay to send in the closers and maybe give some younger player or someone going through a barren patch a chance at an empty net goal?
The reason why this didn’t happen is because the empty net goal is far more valuable to Mavi than it is for the team or any other player. Mavi, in fact, would rather be on the ice risking injury rather than resting for the next game with this game already won. Is he blocking shots? Getting his body into shooting or passing lanes? Don’t be silly. He’s using his “world class” skills to hover near the blue line so he can pick up the errant pass.

Not a leader. Meaning not the best.

I didn't notice the year of the original post. Whenever I think of his 160 point season, it's the 160 points in 60 games the year he had cancer treatment.
