News is coming in from Kupyansk, which Gerasimov and Putin completely captured four months ago.

Z-blogger Romanov reports that all Russian troops who established one of the last strongholds in the city's Central District Hospital have been eliminated.

Delusional. The lion's share of military supply to Ukraine had nothing to do with the weapons used in this new Gulf war.

I heard somewhere that the casualty ratio is also very bad for Russians. For example 1800 casualties might have the distribution of 2 deaths for every 1 injured (1200 and 600)

Yes the war is something of a throwback to the 19th century that way, modern wars have tended to see way way more wounded to way way less dead, Russia's complete lack of concern for it's troops is pretty much a throw back to the first world war, I suspect from Putin's point of view a dead conscript is less of a long term cost to the state than a wounded one, it's not just a lack of ability to help their own troops, I suspect they actively don't want to

Europe told Trump and Vance, clearly and seriously, that Russia’s war against Ukraine and its hybrid warfare campaign across the continent represents the greatest security threat Europe has faced since 1945. Europe said this as a NATO ally. As a partner of seven decades. As a bloc that has housed American bases, funded American adventures, and sent its sons to die in American wars without much complaint. Trump and Vance looked at this and said: not our problem.

The cascading effects that the Ukrainian counterattacks in the Oleksandrivka, Hulyaipole, and Zaporizhia directions have generated in other sectors of the front show how constrained the Russian force structure in Ukraine really is. ⬇️

ISW has previously observed reports that Russian forces have already had to deploy forces from their operational reserve simply to support ongoing combat operations — likely including in Kupyansk where Ukraine has conducted a series of successful counterattacks.

ISW also assessed on March 7 that the Russian command likely laterally redeployed elite VDV and naval infantry units from Donetsk Oblast to the southern frontline, likely in order to respond to recent Ukrainian gains in the Oleksandrivka and Hulyaipole directions.

It's a little early to call definitively, but after less than a week, it's already looking like Russias spring offensive is doomed to fail. Russian losses have been huge with little to no ground gained in most areas.

Meanwhile Ukraine has lately been able to repeatedly hit Russian air defenses deep in the occupied areas, opening the way to increased air strikes. Just as importantly, they're increasingly doing it with domestically built missiles and drones.

Yeah, good to see the pendulum very slowly but effectively beginning to swing the other direction. It can't be stated just how detrimental the disconnection from Starlink is for the russians. Not out of the woods yet and still no light at the end of the tunnel, but a positive shift nonetheless.

It also looks like Russian drone attacks are down after the crapfest around Iran started.

It might be unrelated, and it might simply be that Russia is stockpiling for future waves, but there's alaoa good chance that Russia was either still relying on Iran for some of its drone production (in fact this would seem likely to me), or Russia is currently sending some of it's drones to help Iran.

Ukraine is already "depleting" the Russian army faster than it can replenish it, says Magyar in an interview with The Economist

▪️Since the beginning of winter, Ukrainian drones have killed or disabled at least 8,776 more soldiers than Russia has replaced.
▪️ SBS has an ecosystem of 15 interconnected functions – from jamming to surveillance, mining, and explosives production – that NATO generals have yet to comprehend.
▪️Thanks to Magyar's strict security protocols, the cumulative casualty rate in SBS does not exceed 1%.
▪️Enemy losses: 400 Russians for every Ukrainian; the cost of killing one Russian is $878.
