What exactly was witty about that? Feels like that might have been one of the more obvious things he could say. Unintentionally hilarious, sure, but witty? Nah. Witty would have been her retorting with "Not quite as surprising as the number of children you raped".

He probably had planned a way to work Pearl Harbor into the presser somehow. I doubt it was just off the cuff. He loves to put his guests on the spot like that.
Also, this was pretty far from a surprise attack. Maybe he didn't give allied countries a courtesy call right before, but you can't build up like that and be like "surprise, I bet no one saw that coming".

Rationale and relevant? Pretty good example given the company, and a good answer to a dumb question.
Not a Trump fan but I mean that's actually hilarious. One of the wittiest things I've heard Trump say.
Back the truck up for a sec...
I'm not sure how comparing two completely different things is witty. It's ####ing stupid. Japan was the enemy in WWII. Why would they warn the US they were going to attack them? Meanwhile, Trump didn't notify any allies about this attack, which was the fricken' question being posed. It's apples and sushi.
I dunno if he was setup for this or not, but it's even worse if he was, because someone should have realized how goddamned dumb and disrespectful that was. The Japanese PM wasn't even born then, and neither was this sack of fetid feces, yet it bloviates "why didn't you tell me about Pearl harbour?" "Let me list the reasons, you mungy bag of pumpkin flesh." As if anyone alive today should be help responsible for actions of that day, just because they were born there.
You want allies? Stop insulting them. Goddman man. And for #### sake people, stop admiring this #### tank.

A Pearl Harbour quip to a Japanese individual is about as witty as a surrender joke to a French individual. I can't consider remarkably predictable as witty, but to each their own.

The Japanese Prime Minister also opened with her statement saying that she, "firmly believes that it's only you Donald, who can achieve peace across the world."

You really think she actually believes that, lol? She's clearly just trying to be diplomatic by telling him what he wants to hear.

Isn't she a rightwing deplorable too? Embarrassing as eff!

I do. As ResAlien already mentioned, she's a big fan of Trump and from the far right. What gave you the impression she was just being diplomatic and doesn't actually mean it?

Wherever you think the bar for things like “witty” “hilarious” or “good answer” should be, just remember it’s miles lower than that for some people.

Yikes! My bad, guys. I stand corrected. Didn't realize the Japanese PM was a far-right conservative. I just assumed she was stroking Trump's ego like other foreign leaders when they're trying to get concessions from the U.S. and maintain friendly ties.
