Do you want Edmonton to get all the WCH games?

Wonder if they will transplant the heroin beer lines from the old saddledome to the new event centre...
Thats one experience they should strive to re-create...

It's balls and blood. Dust and Mud. The roar of the Sunday crowd. No matter the sport.

It's like they read my mind (or the many posts I've made here over the years suggesting many of the things in that plan).
Replace the Saddledome with a semi-enclosed amphitheater that can be used as the Coke Stage during the Stampede and also for other concerts during the spring/summer/fall. The only thing missing in the rendering is that the roof of the amphitheater needs to be saddle shaped as an echo of the Dome.
Expand the grandstand with a similar sized stand opposite the existing with room for a CFL field (and soccer too, why not?). Stadiums and arenas haul in dirt for rodeos and monster truck shows all the time, so covering the turf for a couple of weeks isn't a big deal. This could also potentially host some big outdoor concerts/music festivals.
In this story, it mentions the Multipurpose Venue that would replace the Big 4 Building will hold 6-8,000 people: https://livewirecalgary.com/2026/03/...hape-the-park/ That would be the perfect replacement for the Corral (and a great place for the secondary hockey venue for the Olympics).
The 2038 Olympics are only 12 years away. Time to start preparing for them.

There sure are some really nice things that the Stampede, City and Province want to have funded and built in C+E District...

Is there any plan for that Rivers District? The Vic park transit garage would be a nice spot for football stadium no?

Stampede Board can and always have/has a lot of ideas but then stick their hand out to someone else for funding to build their ideas.
That’s fine and the way it goes.
Some of those things planned in 2004 came to fruition, others didn’t. Those that did were required for Stampede events and Ag but some of these ideas, like dumping money into an open air amphitheater that can be used 4 months, is a lot less likely. As mentioned it’s likely to be a parking lot for a while after the Dome is gone.
Stampede really needs to first figure out the Grandstand and those acres of unused space. It is used for 10 days, same with the track and infield. The barns I heard are in disrepair and horse racing is not coming back.
A 22000 seat stadium fits well there or somewhere else on the grounds. But same reason the Flames aren’t building on Stampede land is the same reason no one else will have to play by Stampede board rules.
Rip to the SkyRide. And to Sicbo in the old Big 4 Casino.

The parking areas are basically the same as they are now, why are people asking where to park?

You put up buildings to about three times the current density, the existing parking is not going to be enough. It's a legitimate question.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Grandstand plan does indeed become the new home of the Stampeders eventually. Can confirm this idea and location has been sniffed around on before in the past. And with the right engineering solution, the racing track wouldn't be a non-overcomeable impediment.
Calgary Stampede master plan could spell the long, slow end for McMahon Stadium

the long slow end of McMahon has been creeping on for most of my life and I'm 40 later this year.

Having the Grey Cup there is a bit embarrassing, frankly.

100% - McMahon has been leaning into 'embarassing' territory for a long time now - especially for a rich city quickly approaching a population 2M people.
IMO, what the city needs - at a reasonable cost - is a modular 20,000-seat covered field house (expandable to 30,000 seats); wouldn't be a glamorous facility, but the modular solution is to keep the cost down as low as possible and provide mobility for re-assembly and modifcation as needed (for things like Grey Cup, potential NFL/MLS game opportunities, etc.). Could be a shared permanent home for the Stamps / Cavalry / Dinos / Cougars / other local sports organizations, and allows events and bookings 12 months a year. How that's all paid for and by whom, who knows, but just something I've been thinking about. But I digress haha.

But I had come to terms with the fact that I was going to die when McMahon fell down on top of me while watching a game in the next 20 years. Assuming the CFL lasted that long.

I think it would fall down under you. You sit on top of the building to watch a game.

When you consider Canada's major city by population and wealth it is kind of shocking that Calgary of all cities would have by far the worst football stadium situation of all CFL organizations. I can only imagine what some American players think the first time they arrive to the facilities.
