WTF, Fernie. That's nuts. Castle is crazy, too. Louise is respectable. Great forecast!

Fernie often gets these dumps at this time of the year

Once again we've received new snow overnight! With 6 cm of the fresh stuff and mid winter-like conditions, there is some fabulous skiing / riding to be had out there! With the drop in temperature things have firmed up and staying on groomed terrain is recommended for the lower mountain.
For weather, we're expecting overcast skies with ligth flurries throughout the day. We could see up to 5 cm of accumulation by closing. Our mid mountain high is expected to be -6, with alpine winds ramping up to moderate-strong at 40km/h gusting to 80.

It is pouring rain up here at Sunshine this morning. Heavy rain at Goat’s Eye and turning to rain at the Village.
I’ve never seen weather like it this early in the season in 45 years of coming here. We were drenched heading back to Canmore yesterday.

Fairly certain Fernie is done. I live on the hill and my grass is green. I might have to mow it next week.
Banked slalom canceled this weekend, more rain in the forecast. I have no idea how they're going to keep the hill open without having to download. They were scavenging snow from the arena earlier in the year.....

Mountain Update:
Out of an abundance of caution, due to extreme avalanche conditions in the surrounding Back Country of Banff Sunshine and record snow fall, Parks Canada has made the difficult decision to close the Sunshine Access Road for Friday March 20th.
With cooler temperatures on the horizon, we expect a return to normal operations on Saturday March 21st.
Limited access will be provided to essential employees and guests with hotel reservations who are checking into Sunshine Mountain Lodge.

I was up there today (3/19), and it was shocking. Some of the weirdest snow I have ever skiied on. Not even normal spring slush/mashed potatoes, but like extremely wet and grabby unconsolidated soft pack/powder.

A friend was supposed to go to sun peaks yesterday but TransCanada was closed between golden and Revy, and he didn’t want a 10h drive through jasper. TransCanada closed again today until 8pm and he asked me what to do.
I said wait and go tomorrow as conditions aren’t great so not missing good skiing. He was worried road will be closed again tomorrow.
What does CP wisdom think he should do?

I'm very curious about the answer to that too as I am going on a roadtrip to Revy, Sun Peaks and Marmot for the kids' spring break departing next Friday. Suddenly it feels like it could be the missing installment from the National Lampoon series.

We rocked up at Norquay this morning as we figured everyone would be going to Louise. It was pouring rain, so we sat in the lodge figuring if we’re gonna buy passes.
While waiting, we got an email saying the Sunshine access road is open, so we’re in the Gondola up to the Village.
It is very quiet

Tomorrow is the big chair challenge at Norquay for the kids. My son coaches a bunch of 6 year olds and they are supposed to do this. Hopefully the rain doesn't ruin that.
