I find Americans so weird lately just not cheering for Americans. Wanted Canada to win in hockey (this was even before the Trump call), wanted American athletes in general in Milan to fail and now happy USA lost in baseball.

I know it's polarized down there but I can't think of any situation in Canada where Canadians would not cheer for Canadians in sport.

When McD trying to go savior mode 1-on-3 but f-d up which cost Canada the gold, I was upset and happy at the same time.

But they were the bottom of the inning . At that point the US can never be “winning” again . So he’s just not going to use his best pitcher anymore

DeRosa literally didn't know the tiebreakers in this tournament, so I feel like he's pretty much just a dumbass.

It shouldn’t be a coincidence then that this hollowness bleeds into why the American team is just so staid and boring. They were out-vibed by every team they played despite their success in the tournament. You can’t hero-worship an ICBM, and there’s nothing real in pretending to wear fatigues. For all the goodwill this tournament brought the game of baseball, Team USA sure got none of it on ’em.

He said he was ‘‘Honoring the Padres” so maybe it was an agreement he had with them to only use him in a save situation.

I have now watched the interview and 100% believe he never even considered it because he is a moron

I 100% believe the Padres had asked to not use Miller in a non critical situation. However, if they had agreed he could be used in a save situation there is zero chance they would have an issue using him in the TOP of the 9th in a tied game

The reporter even asked / commented "But there could be no more save chances after the 8th" and DeRosa's eyes seemed to glaze over like he hadn't even realized that

When DeRosa with with the Jays he had a bromance with Lawrie, so his lack of awareness of all these things and scrambling to answer the tough questions with unconvincing vagueness or flat out inaccuracy these couple weeks, isn’t surprising.
