I'm going to watch that because I love Peaky Blinders...but is that even out yet?

Finally saw Marty Supreme last night. It was a wild ride as expected but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I had hoped. I liked the one bad decision after another plot of Good Time but I found myself cringing more with Marty’s similar arc. Kudos to Chalamet for his portrayal of basically a grifter but the movie didn’t do it for me.

I couldn't stand this one. Just a bunch of yelling through the whole movie. I've heard it compared to the frantic style of Uncut Gems which has the volume dial turned up throughout, however it managed to succeed where I think Marty Supreme failed

I liked Marty Supreme, the movie, but didn't care for the character. I wasn't rooting for him to succeed except when it came to:

Man that was ####ed up.
Amazing 10/10.
Never want to watch it again.
100% recommend.

Ah… yeah. Watching it and going, “I wonder where this could end up?” and it definitely didn’t end up where I imagined.
On a side note, damn does Villeneuve know how to do end credits. It’s no papyrus, but every film he does the font and colours are magnificent.

Incendies has the most horrifying single person death scene in probably any movie I have ever seen. Not just because of how it happened, but who was doing it and knowing that it literally still happens in this day and age. Yeah...not watching that scene again.

Man...a movie with me would be so boring.
I just re-watched John Wick...if I was a multi-millionaire Mob Boss and afraid as hell of John Wick?

That's fine I guess but how do you defend that as a director? That's like saying 'oh kid rock is popular he'll do my soundtrack'. Like wtf? Such an odd choice and to me it's just a bad movie

Anyone else planning to see Project Hail Mary this weekend?
It’s a rare occasion my wife and I both read and love the same book, so we’ve got tix for Friday night. Can’t remember the last movie I was this pumped about seeing opening weekend.

Just finished buying my advance tickets! Same here. I read it, gave it to my wife and she loved it. We've both been waiting for the movie for a while now.

I caught Project Hail Mary last night at the Shawnessy Landmark, loved it. I was thinking it had a very similar feel to "The Martian" then later read that it was written by the same author. It made me feel the same way when watching Apollo 13, Arrival, The Martian and even Interstellar. This might be the best work that Gosling has done.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts. My wife are in the middle of reading and will be seeing in theatres as well, hopefully next week.

I still can't believe I fell for that April 1st tweet a couple of years ago from Andy Weir saying how excited he was that Emma Stone was cast as Rocky...

This was me as well.
Chalamet actually played the character great! He was hilarious; but he had no redeeming qualities.
Sandler in Uncut Gems was an ####### as well; but you still rooted for him at the end.
Plus, after hearing about Chalamet more and more in real life, he seems like a huge ###### (not including the opera comment) which makes a lot more sense that he is dating a Jenner.
Throw in Mr. Wonderful and GOOP lady, its an easy movie to hate.

For me, the fact that most of the characters are not lovable is the charm of the film. I don't think the point of the film was to portray Marty "Supreme" as a hero, but rather merely an ultimately tragic character that cannot see he lost when he thinks he won. To me, that's really ####ing interesting.

Meh, I don't understand watching serviceable or background movies., No interest when you're already sitting doing nothing for even he best TV/movies. The point of sitting and watching a movie is to be fully entertained. There's so much to do in this world, why waste time on half assed movies/TV when sitting in front of a TV at it's core is so stupid. No point.

I agree. I actually have a very particular set up. The room needs to be completely dark and completely noiseless outside of the Dolby Surround Sound and 70”+ screen I have installed. I only drink distilled water, no food or caffeinated beverages, as I don’t want any drugs to alter my experience or to distract my body with digestion. I lock the door, get seated, and start the film and then proceed to watch until the final credit has rolled (actually can’t watch films on Netflix because the “up next” feature takes away from the experience the director and film designers have crafted for me).
It’s also disgusting to me that people “throw on” music while they’re driving, or working, or exercising. How could anyone appreciate being fully entertained and enveloped in a musical experience if they’re distracted by these worldly vices? Unimaginable.
