The new War Machine on Netflix (yes, they have made more than one) is a serviceable Alien attack movie. Too heavy on the pro-military propaganda but that's to be expected.

Agreed. Not recommending it, but a perfectly adequate background movie to keep an eye on as you play on your phone.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You - 8/10, pretty good if you're into anxiety inducing movies. "The uncut gems for mothers"

Saw Solo Mio with Doug Heffernan at the cheap theater yesterday. OMFG. What a heap of sht that movie was. Within three minutes I knew I was fkd. Me in the theater with a bunch of boomers. Kill me.

So VERY early in the movie he's on a plane and has his carry-on in the overhead bin. He has to get it out and it's kind of stuck, so he's reefing on it. Pull, pull, pull...COMES LOOSE and smokes the guy behind him. The boomers erupt in laughter. My seething hatred boils over. These fking people have the worst senses of humour.

And that was the best joke/gag in the whole movie.

How does garbage like this get made?? It's insane.

This was a great recommendation Watched Escape from New York over the weekend, awesome movie. I'd say I liked The Thing more but this movie was still really really good. Loved the cyberpunk vibes. Kurt Russell is so ####in cool as Snake. John Carpenter + Kurt Russell is an awesome combo.

"Big Trouble in Little China" added to my watchlist to continue the Carpenter/Russell saga.

All great movies but not similar. Thing is dark and brooding, the mood is generally depressing. Escape is a bit ridiculous and mayhem. Big trouble goes another notch up on the ridiculous. Its got some bad parts but they are on purpose if that makes sense.

I think I like the Kurt Russell guardians movie way more because of those three. Why arent all the superhero movies as good as that one.

The positive first, Jessie Buckley is incredible in "The Bride", the accent is so enjoyable and does not waver, she's such a great actress and there's something about her character I just loved. She's almost unrecognizeable but looks fantastic, this is very different fom what she done in the past and shows how versatile she is.

On one hand I can't believe they're still readapting Frankenstein but this part of the story and the bride are not technially overdone, the last Bride of Frankenstein movie was in 1935. I can understand how reviews are lukewarm, it's close but doesn't nail everything it strives to achieve. I kept on trying to settle in to the tone trying to be set. I didn't love it but Jessie Buckley is so good that it's worth a watch.

The Hunt with Betty Gilpin is such a fun movie. She should be a bigger star. Smart, funny and a total smoke show. She has such great energy in the role as a confident yet cynical gives-no-####s badass.

Shelter was okay. Typical Statham romp with some cheese tossed into the mix. Good enough to turn your brain off for a while.

Didn't look as fun as the Beekeeper so I passed on it despite enjoying most Statham romps.

Beekeeper was great fun. Heard next year there's a sequel coming.

Nope not as fun for sure, but you know what you are getting when it's a Statham film so it definitely scratches that itch.

Any good horror movie recommendations people have across the various streaming platforms (Prime, Netflix, Crave, Disney, AppleTV)?

Not really horror, but really good, The Long Walk.
Primate had some fun jumps.

I finally saw Sinners. There is a lot about it to like, but it also seems pretty overhyped.

From Dusk til Dawn as a basic plotline, but with some soul and character storylines, and a dash of political commentary thrown in. I enjoyed it, and it was unique, but it also felt like a pretty standard vampire movie at times.

Is it good? Undoubtedly. Is it as good as everyone thinks it is? Highly debatable.

I did appreciate the production design, cinematography, and some of the performances. I don't really understand all the talk about the music in it, as it was sparse and not well defined. More a social commentary about music than a music forward movie.

The use of spiritualism was at times really clear and compelling, and also took a backseat to everything else. They hinted at things, but never really fleshed the ideas out.

Don't get me wrong, I liked it, but based on the fan reactions, the industry buzz, and the awards hype, I thought it was a little underwhelming.

My top 2 movies of the year are still Marty Supreme and One Battle After Another.

It's definitely overhyped.

At the same time I can't deny that it does some pretty cool things creatively.

I'd be able to appreciate it more if it wasn't social convention to call it the best movie of the year ever since its release weekend. What's strange is nobody dissects exactly why it should be, but just agree with the sentiment. I speculate it's because its a satisfying watch while checking all the typical best picture boxes for the academy.

I found it to be a beautiful mess of about half a dozen half baked movie ideas thrown at a wall that against all logic came out pretty tight. But what irks me is how all over the place it was tonally and kind of plot wise. It was sort of genre-morphing as it went along. And some parts were stronger than others.

At the same time I kind of love it for being its own thing. Also has superb musical pieces. S-tier for that.

But I don't think it was even the best "horror" of 2025, let alone the best movie.

Was kind of bored on a Sunday after work...my mind is exhausted so I figured I'd throw on an old favourite.

I have said before and I stand by it. 'John Wick' is essentially the perfect action film. Simple premise, simple characters...decadent violence.

Love it.
