Missing Member - Hanna Sniper
Can you please help me find out what happened to my friend?

Name: Doug Whalen
What I Know:
- Last Activity: 08-26-2023 08:17 PM
- Located somewhere in Southern Ontario
- He was a longtime menber of the CPHL as the GM of the Carolina Hurricanes; one day he just wasn't there anymore. Jirihrdina was in contact with him for awhile when we noticed he wasn't online as much but even that has stopped.
- I think he had a brother in the league many years ago (hope he's a member and sees this)
- Had significant vision issues I know was deteriorating the last talks we
I have a phone number for him but just goes to voicemail..tried texting and nothing
Hasn't been responded to any emails
Does anyone have any idea what happened to Doug?

This might be more of a last resort, but you can hire a skip tracer for a few hundred dollars. If he's living and paying bills in the Hamilton area, they can probably find him.

The police here will do wellness checks, but for someone who hasn't been heard from in that long, I doubt they would, and without a verified town, i think they wouldn't without more information.

I know that for Calgary, a 'single piece of info' is the bare minimum we can try to work with, like a phone number or an address. But we always warn that with that little info, the chances of successfully finding someone aren't great. Telecomms will only (as they should) release info to police in life/death/exigent circumstances.
I also know that for Calgary, if you haven't had contact with the person for a year or more, the report won't be taken over the phone, you'll be referred directly to the Missing Persons Unit. I imagine that Hamilton is pretty similar.

We hope not. Cheese and I have teamed up on this to try to actually get in touch with him, but so far we haven’t been successful. The circumstances around the whole situation are pretty odd.
The purpose of this thread is simply to see if any other members might know him and can confirm that he’s okay. We don’t want to jump to filing a missing persons report or calling the police if it’s not necessary.

I think sometimes it's people making a deliberate decision to reduce their overall social media or device time. De-plug. Not saying I know that's the case with those guys, but I suspect some of the time it's why we see people suddenly vanish.

I'm an admin on a German sports forum. There are cases where users write and go "hey, I'm reducing my screen time, can you delete my account or put me on pause for a while". That will often look like vanishing out of the blue to other users.

I left because I was getting serious (sounding) threats that photon was generous to warn me about. photon is a kingpin.
