Ditto, being a Star Trek fan requires a certain element of masochism but this is a struggle...its an hour long? I have to keep pausing it to let the cringe dissipate...this is brutal and I'm only like 15 minutes in.

I set my phaser to Maximum Kill and left it on the counter and...it is calling me...and I am seriously considering it...

I just tell myself it's not actually Star Trek and that seems to be enough for me to not watch it

This episode was literally physically painful to watch.

I hate this so much.

"Why is space being like this??"

Thats the line? Thats the best you could come up with? We should have left the writers on strike just for reciprocity for crap like that.

Whats that now? More glitter vomit? Sure. Why not.

Just going back...no! Because thats a whole other show. Garak and Bashir will have founded their own Private Detective agency.

Its perfect.

You ever watch the X-Files? You've got the semi-psychotic but often correct conspiracy theorist accompanied by the skeptical but open-minded medical Doctor assistant.

Garak and Bashir. Oh....now that'd be a show...Intergalactic Star Trek X-Files. Sign me the hell up for that!!

Gowron and Dukat is more 'buddy cop' with a little 'Turner and Hooch' and Garak and Bashir would be Cosmic X-Files, exploring the unexplainable and...ironically...'searching for the truth' with Garak. What could go wrong?

Oh...come on Paramount, I'll text you my contact info. Hire me on and lets get this going! You've clearly got billions of dollars kicking around, fire a few of them my way and lets do this thing!!

Ditch that Kurtzman loser and hire me!

Just none of the characters are likable. The only thing that stands out is some effects work.

The dialogue is terrible, When there is a story in an episode its terrible and flat.

The acting has become really bad. You don't care about any of the characters, and it like the writers don't talk to each other between episodes.

Holly Hunter used to be a really good actress, in this series she's just awful.

They've completely thrown out the whole Star Trek is baked in science.

For science fiction, treks and hollywood's sake none of the writers and show runners should ever be allowed to write or run a show in Hollywood again.

I don't get it.

He was always about to speak, but then didn't. Seem to recall one episode where he was someone special? The running gag that he was a great singer?

Sorry, hate to ask, it's just odd to see a Trek joke I can't unravel!

Kind of exciting!

There was a few comments about how he was such a talker and a great joker, and the episode where he faked his death had a lot of mourners. The name Morn actually is an anagram from Norm from Cheers, because all Norm did all day was sit at the bar.

IIRC Morn originally had lines and then they decided not to, but yes, the running gag was you never see him talk on screen, but off screen you couldn't get him to shut up.

So...exactly how many mines and how long would it take to completely encompass the entirety of Federation space...

See now, I just had to AI this with a question.

According to Chat GPT, a Starship traveling at warp 9 which is 279 times the speed of light (Plaid) The Federation was suppossed to be about 8000 light years across. You can't constantly travel at light speed, so according to AI it would just take about 8 years to cross the Federation at maximum warp.

If modeled as a rough circle the circumference would be about 25,000 light years 24 years.

So for one ship to A carry enough mines to mine around the entire volume of the Federation, and do it at what would be amounted to impulse power which is .25 the speed of light, just one mine laying loop would probably take a few thousand years.

In other words for our villain to completely surround the UFP or thousands of loop trips around the Federation while laying mines even at warp 9 would probably take like a thousand years.

As for mines even if you were to lay one every few hundreds of kms, like even 1000 you'd need 25 per loop times proabahly a few hundred loops so lets say 10 thousand or more.

In a simpler answer, the writers created a really stupid premise.
