He looks great out there.

If you change out the pitcher like this I feel like the batter should get a fresh count. Being down 0-2 seeing a brand new pitcher seems quite unfair.

In normal MLB games I would agree. Not in the WBC where there are strict pitch count rules on days rest and total pitch count caps.

Would be so great if Mexico can win today with less than 5 runs, then we will get Italy next.
If not, its likely a date with the US (maybe an outside shot at mexico?)

If Mexico wins while scoring less then 5 runs, then Mexico is first and Italy is second
If Mexico wins while scoring 5 runs or more
then if Italy scores 5 runs or more then USA is first, Mexico is second
else Mexico is first and USA is second.

Biggest win in Canadian baseball history.
The previous was beating the US in the WBC in 2006. With all due respect to those in the Olympics and PanAm games etc, those weren’t major leaguers.
All this with some scrappy games this tournament so far where they probably should gone 4 and 0 and had more comfortable wins.
Really hoping for the circus of a Mexican low run win tonight for a lot of reasons besides who Canada’s next opponent is.
Beating the Americans would be great but something tells me if they get through tonight they will be right pissed off.
Regardless, we are playing with house money from here on in.

Mexico and Italy should conspire to have a 4-3 game, so both advance

Also if Mexico wins but gives up a bunch of runs then it would be USA 1, Mexico 2 in Pool B so we'd play Mexico. Looks like they'd need to give up about 6 runs and still win (depending on the number of innints played) for that scenario.

I’m not sure if the coefficients allow for this but it would be amazing.
4-4 bottom 9. Mexico gets a man on base. A 2 run home eliminates Italy. Intentional balk the runner home to lose 5-4. Both Italy and Mexico go thru.

And the Mexican player balked 3 times shakes hands with the Italian 2b, SS,3b each step of the way like Hank Aaron did setting the HR record.
Ideally it’s Arozorena and he then also shakes hands with the Italian catcher after he got snubbed by his own teammate in Raleigh.
This can be setup so many ways so that both these teams go through, in an American ball park. It’s why FIFA changed all final group games to being at the same time, at the utter fiasco of 1978 World Cup and others, when group stages determined who was on the Final and Argentina needed 4 goals to win and Peru let them score 7 after taking bribes.

I think it would have to be 4-3. 5-4 and USA advances.

Doesn't look like Italy is going to allow something funny to happen today. They're playing too well. Most of them are Americans anyway so they would probably like to see the Americans advance over the Mexicans.
