Better question is why even start an inexperienced player in a game like this. Yeah, Vicario is not very good, but at least he's experienced. Kinsky has literally never played a UCL game and you throw him in away at Atletico? Deeeeerp.

Sure, but at that point the game is gone, it's done. Don't need to risk ruining a career over it. Two horrible moments (does he slip a little on the first one?) but it's not like the sub helped invigorate the team at all, done 5-1 and all now.

I dunno, it just feels like a pretty horrible situation for all involved and pulling him turns up the spotlight on the moment.

Bayern shredding Atalanta to pieces. Wow.

Davies comes on at half time for Bayern Munich. Just got taken off with an injury. Munich leading 6-0 over Atalanta. Really really hope he is able to play for Canada, but it looks less likely. He was in tears.

Newcastle conceding a penalty seconds away from a vital win feels like a perfect summation of their season.

The miracle of Spurs winning the Champions League and getting relegated in the same season seems all but impossible now

I’ve resigned myself to you winning the quad. I mean looking at the draws you’ve gotten, even you guys can’t possibly bottle it.

I do feel bad for that keeper though. A young guy with 2 mistakes like that on such a big stage, and then no acknowledgement from his manager.
That's brutal, potentially long lasting confidence and career stuff.

Yeah, obviously you take some joy not only in your own team’s success, but also when your rivals fail.

But watching and reading about the position Kinsky was put in, and what he endured? I take no joy in that and hope he personally and professionally recovers from that. Even if it is at Spurs, which after this, could be unlikely. I’ll look out for him and hope he goes on to do well.

I feel bad for him and was saying that to someone as it happened yesterday. It’s gross mismanagement to put him in there in the first place. I do think they had to pull him when it was clear that the ridiculous ploy wasn’t going to work out, but that could ruin him.

I was only half joking when I mentioned months ago that Arsenal had set themselves up perfectly for a first knockout round exit.

This team just can't handle any pressure in any material situation.

Good news for Arsenal is they have a comically easy draw so even being ass the whole way should be enough to make the final. A dubious penalty or two like that one will help.

And if VAR is not capable, or willing, to overturn that then just scrap the thing and be done with it.

VAR has to overturn that, it's clear there is no contact made.

VAR always seems more likely to give a penalty that wasn't called than it is to overturn a penalty that was called. And I think in some ways that's made diving worse.

England coefficient looking like it might take a beating, Arsenal probably get through but the other four might all be done.

City getting pumped by the worst Madrid team in years. PL really is as garbage as we think, maybe even more garbage than we think.

To be fair, when you finish first, you should get the best draw.

At the very least, after years of drawing Barca and Bayern in their prime, Arsenal are due a favour in Europe.

Oh no doubt. But Black Metal FC beating Arsenal does seem like destiny.
