The proposed second Fairmont hotel by Truman is getting more info out on Friday. It's looking more and more likely that the location will be the Singapore Sam's building on 11th avenue in Beltline.

This is a great location for a hotel. Wonder if they'll need to tear down the adjacent strip mall to accommodate this project too (which I'm sure a ton of people would be overjoyed with).

Real shame when the city loses heritage sites like this.


Wonder if it will just be the one lot, or also the building next to it that has looked pretty empty for a while now.

I'm actually surprised we haven't seen more hotels in the Beltline. I know there's a reason why the others are in the CBD or by Stampede...but personally if I was visiting Calgary, I'd much rather stay closer to the action of the Beltline/17th.

I think it is the Sam's building and the strip mall if true.

But then where am I going to be able to get CPU, be asked for change, purchase liquor, get my nails done, thow dumplings at other people at 2 AM, and train for martial arts all in one place??
