Nurse doesn't shove him, he clips him slightly which caused the contact... but MacKinnon was flying through that crease regardless. Dangerous collision.
Flying should have nothing to do with it though; there's no speed limit and a penalty shouldn't be based on a players skating speed.
If he wasn't hit by Nurse, unlikely any contact occurs at all.
Even a 2 minute would have been questionable.
I agree completely, 5 was overkill, but its silly to get upset that it was a 2 minute penalty. Your gonna call that everytime when you see how hard he hit ingram.
Does anyone really believe if the situation had been reversed and it was McDavid piling into Blackwood, does anyone think they would have given McPrincess 5 and game?

Misconduct makes sense. You can't hip check the face of two players in quick succession like that! Even if the first dummy ate a hip bone to put you into his goaltender, that's just not allowed. One would have been fine, but two? #Git'em'outta'ere!1
Good thing Edmonton now has all these goalies, welcome back Calvin! Hope Ingram is okay, that could be bad :/

EDM would've had a PP coming out of it for sure! The COL D, would've been called for the trip. I've seen that movie against the Flames more than once.
5 mins was too much IMO, because Nurse is a big guy, and it wasn't just a slight contact.

They would’ve only called the dman for pushing him in

Just saw the replay, that's a pretty tough 5 minute call. No way that much contact happens without Nurse making contact at the last second. 2 minutes, sure.....5? Man, that's quite the call.
On another note, I try not to watch the Oilers broadcast at all, and now I remember why. This is terrible.
Nope and if Smith had been injured on that play it was still only Giordano getting a penalty. One set of rules for the Oilers and a different set of rules for the rest of the league.
