Lori Idlout (Nunavut) is crossing the floor from the NDP to the Liberals. This means the Liberals need to win 2/3 in the byelections and they’ll have the majority.

2 of those 3 ridings were won by the Liberals with over 60% of the vote last year.

What did they bribe her with , errr I mean why did she feel the Liberal Party represents her constituents values more ?
Will be a funnier spin then the candidates “abandoning PP” because they no longer believe in him (vs reality that they were retiring and got bribed to stay and cross the floor)

What part ?

https://globalnews.ca/news/11672379/...0you.%E2%80%9D
Or that he was appointed the special advisor to economic and security partnerships as part of the crossing ? Which he was
Have they announced what position or role Lori gets yet for crossing ?

There's rumour that she's been promised a million dollars in tax payer money.
And also a seat at the next WEF.

Unfortunately one MP who was going to resign and instead crossed the floor and was given a position does not constitute “candidates” “retiring” and receiving a “bribe” to stay.
Perhaps you can share evidence of the candidates (plural) who were retiring (not resigning) and received a bribe to stay.
We can chalk it up to misinformation (you didn’t know the facts were wrong) or disinformation (you did but posted it anyway). What would you prefer?
Not a big deal really, but since you’re suddenly very into misinformation I thought it’d be helpful to highlight some for you.

It's almost like the classic "spend time with family" line was a delay tactic to see if the party was going to stick with the same idiotic trajectory with PP in power. They did, so he moved on from the delay and made his decision. Really really, 4D politics. I know it's tough to puzzle out some days.

Yeah, seriously... look at the timeline on that.
Rumors that he was thinking about crossing the floor -> Scheer apparently barges into his office threatening him -> he issues his statement saying 'I'll be resigning please leave my family alone' (Gee I wonder what Scheer threatened him with). I thought it was pretty obvious that his "upcoming resignation" statement was made under duress.
And really an unpaid, unofficial, non-ministerial advisory role is a "bribe"? Get real.

If an MP polls his constituents and finds the majority now favor Carney, why shouldn't they cross if they want to represent their riding more accurately?

Responding to this late as I missed it last time re: floor crossings.
I think it’s even more important in close ridings that someone would maintain their party while voting across the floor. It shows that they do recognize they aren’t just repping their Con voters, but doesn’t clear the way for the perceived two-faced nature of the official party switch. A Con voter isn’t going to now vote Liberal just because their MP is now Liberal. But they may be okay with a Con MP that votes with liberal issues while maintaining conservative votes in some instances. But I can see how I may feel more “back door” to be like like “look, I’m going to vote with you guys most of the time, but I’m not switching my party.”

That MP would get booted from the party, though. And then be Independent. And then decide to join the other party.
I kinda think having them sit as independent until a round of by-elections take place, and then hold one in that riding. That person then runs for the Liberals(in this case) and the Conservatives can nominate someone new.
