Ripping down half snow cleared bike lanes, hanging into the road lanes… yeah some of these people are completely nuts.

Kid plays Jr hockey, we went up to watch his game yesterday and walking around the rink between periods there are a few people wearing jerseys with his name and number on them.

Pretty cool feeling.

Mentioned it to him at dinner after and he said Dad I cant believe it that someone would pay extra to put my name on their jersey.

That’s cool. I delight seeing people buy my son’s merch at shows.

My wife came across a FB Marketplace post for a TON of hockey cards from the 80s through today, which we bought for our 10 year old. The seller included a pile of CFL cards and other bits of Flames memorabilia.

The hours upon hours of going through those boxes to see who he got are going to be so amazing, including explaining why those CFL cards from '91 don't have Alouette players, and half of the Roughriders are wearing green, and the other half red and black.

i had a couple of cool things happen at hockey last night

one of the guys on the other team had his first game back last night in about 3 months after having to get surgery/treatment for cancer. it was sooooo awesome seeing him back on the ice last night. he's such a nice guy. it also felt good stopping him on 4 of his 5 shots. he's an ex-pro and only beat me on one of his breakaways! ha! ha!

there was another cool thing that happened last night too.... two of my guys collided HARD. Nick wears a full cage and I guess in the collision his cage caught him in the chin and split him wide open – he had a river coming from his chin. he went to get changed so he could go to emerg to get sewn up. then Russ from the other team left his bench. I guess Russ’ back was bugging him a little and he saw Nick was split open pretty good (it was hard not to notice) so Russ went to our room and talked to Nick. the two of them left together and went to Russ’ clinic (Russ is an oral surgeon) and Russ stitched Nick up right away so Nick wouldn’t have to wait for hours in emerg. I thought that was pretty cool.

i love that for the most part we have an awesome group of guys playing in our division of men's hockey.

My beer league is basically just an ice time each weekend, no refs. I'm assuming it's not allowed in actual beer league but 80% of the guys don't just go no cage, but no visor either.

I took a stick to the face about 10 years ago and lost 8 teeth, including two broken below the gum line. Needed to get posts drilled into my jaw to avoid wearing false teeth for the rest of my life. Also took about 6 months and cost me $10k.

I had insurance through work, and switched jobs about 3 months afterwards. I called the insurance company and they told me they'd honour the remaining work since the incident occurred while I was working there and this was a continuation of the work over time (needed 6 months for the implants to set into the jaw and have bone growth around them). Of course when I tried to claim the work afterwards, the insurance company denied it due to not working there anymore. My new insurance company wouldn't approve it since I wasn't working there when the original incident occurred.

Not worth ever going without a cage after that experience and cost.

SO my young engineer I am charge of got married in Jan in one of those mexico weddings. Asked him where he was having dinner prior to the ceremony bullcrap. So he said Barbarella, I get him a $150 gift card and send that the day of. Totally out of the blue, just met the kid.

And then just today he gives me a card saying I am the best bud and boss he could have.

I am a puddle right meow. I just walked over to his office and called him and a-hole.

I just spent the weekend with my son and some of my best friends watching rugby.

Things are all right in my world.
