Flames pace needed

Playoff spot needs a pace of 142 points
Not drafting in the top 10 needs a pace of 125 points
Not drafting in the top 5 needs a pace of 91 points

Essentially they are a bottom five team now. Record needed to catch the 6th worst team (Winnipeg) is 12-6-1

The more we see him at this level, the more its apparent that he is not ready for full time duty yet.

Keep him around to play on occasion, practice with them full time and work with him to improve his weaknesses.

Hope he improves his body mass and deficiencies over the summer and see if he is good enough come camp. If not, then it should not surprise when he is assigned to the Wranglers.

I thought Parekh was one of the better dman,

Moved the puck quickly, yes he took two penalties.

He was not on the ice for any of the goals with the exception of the empty net goal

I think he'll be fine when he learns to take the simple play at a higher percentage than he currently does.

Sometimes you just go D to D and open up for a return pass without always trying to sling it up two zones.

i.e. the 3 goals in the 1st period

I thought he looked slow on that Caps breakaway goal. Might have been a long shift or something, but I wasn't expecting him to get beaten like that.

He does a stretch pass a lot. He usually makes the pass but it’s not usually the best play at the NHL level. If he misses, it’s at best a loss of possession and at worst an icing. f he makes it, the recipient is up ice with no one to pass to. It’s only if the guy gets a breakaway that it’s a good opportunity.

If they are going to do it, at least two forwards have to be breaking hard.

Yep the broadcasters said the defense were gassed

As they had a long shift.

I have no issue with Parekh sitting out a game, but I also thought he was fine last night. He is much better than what his reputation says it is, and I think it will take a bit of time for the narrative about him to catch up to what he really is. He is trending to be much more like Makar/Hughes than Karlsson/Bouchard, and that's very encouraging for people like me who much prefer the former types.

What I do notice is that he needs work on his accerlation/straight-line speed. He is dazzling on his edges, however.

Hopefully the Wranglers make the playoffs and at least have Gridin and Brzustewicz play important minutes down there. I really think Gridin is going to pop. Brzustewicz also needs to work on his speed, but otherwise I felt he was consistently good considering his age and experience. I would like to see him back in action soon.

Doesn't look good ... 5 points out, played 3 extra games and have to pass two teams with 15 games to go.

Fun game to watch, especially the 2nd period withthe two shorties.

You can tell that Zayne is learning to play NHL level D, got caught a couple of times and not getting into position to get his shot through traffic, but it will come and he will be dynamic.

Can we also do away with this Huska hates playing young players. Parekh took two interferance calls and was still getting plenty of shifts afterwards. Huska is letting him learn on the job, whilst managing his games.

I wonder if there is any appetite to limit Parekh to a max of 25 games, so that he could be a rookie again next season?

That would have him playing only 6 of the remaining 19 games though.

If he can emerge as a legit top 6 threat and the Flames pick up a top 3 pick this year, the pool of young players is looking great:

Gridin, Parekh, Wolf, Reschny, Coronato, Zary, and then add in one of McKenna/Stenberg/Voerhoff.

If 1-2 more young players emerge from the many draft picks the Flames have, the rebuild starts to look very solid.

Also, he looks to be getting better every game. So what they are doing appears to be working.
