Yesterday, when challenged on the reality that a judge has already determined that the separatists question is unconstitutional...
Smith announced if they get the signatures she'll have Amery rewrite it to make it constitutional

I think this one slid under the radar for some people.
Think you're getting a "good driver" insurance rate? maybe not.
You may no longer qualify as a 'good driver' with new Alberta rule change
https://dailyhive.com/calgary/albert...-rate-cap-2026
Alberta drivers with even a single minor traffic ticket may face higher insurance costs in 2026, as the province tightens its definition of a “good driver.”
Under the updated 2026 rules, a driver must have no at-fault accidents in the last six years, no criminal code traffic convictions in the past four years, no major traffic convictions in the past three years, and, the most significant change this year, no minor traffic convictions in the past three years to qualify as an Alberta “good driver.”
Previously, a driver with a minor traffic conviction in the past three years, like a speeding ticket or a moving violation, could still qualify as a “good driver,” but under the 2026 rules, even a single minor conviction may now disqualify them.

I remember they were asking about the speeding tickets past year when shopping around for quotes. TD seemed to be the one where this actually impacted the quote very much. However, they didn’t really ask the nature of the ticket either, so assuming the worst?

Alberta school divisions complying with a provincial order have removed dozens of graphic novels from their shelves, from illustrated versions of literary classics to coming-of-age memoirs and dramatic retellings of mythology, access to information request results show.
Now boxed away in storage in some Edmonton and Calgary-area schools are graphic novel versions of Margaret Atwood’s A Handmaid’s Tale and George Orwell’s 1984 — both dystopian stories about government control.

“It's a very puritanical way of dealing with young people and of infantilizing them,” Turk said in an interview. “These are real issues in the lives of most 13, 14, 15 year-olds. And it's better they're reading about and getting some sense of it.”

A whole list at the link, but I'm sure the govenrment has great reasons for not wanting kids to read about :
Age of Bronze: The Story of the Trojan War (assume the condoms are the problem here)
Camus for Beginners (can't have kids reading philosophy)
Cartooning: The Art and the Business (not "the business" you are thinking. Just a book from 1983 about how to draw cartoons)
And many more.
So when is the burning? Remember, you voted for this. Ignorance is never the answer.

Smitty has basically gone full Trump.
Man. I do not want to move to Saskatchewan. Or BC. But if the Wretched Witch of the West becomes queen of the Country Alberta, not a lot else to do.

Yeah, but the sheer number of us who would be leaving would economically ruinous for Alberta.

The Crowfoot library had a whole table of kids/teens books displayed that would have made the UCP and their supporters very upset. I'm glad to see some of the public libraries stepping, up when the government is banning books in Alberta schools. I hope this continues.

The Indigo in Westhills has a feature table set up called Banned Books, promoting all the books that are, I presume, the ones banned by the UCP. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Lol, doesn’t look like anyone is signing their stupid petition. It’s just a bunch of old farts sitting around making fools of themselves. I sincerely hope that every other Canadian on that beach told them to go f*** themselves.

I have had the mis fortune of having to deal with these people. A month ago I was helping to organize a fundraising dinner. A couple of rich bitches in fur coats driving a Cadillac showed up and asked if they could collect signatures at the event. We said no, because it is important for our organization to remain politically neutral, and they replied by insisting that they were allowed to set up in the parking lot because a community hall was paid for by tax payer dollars. I had to explain to them that when someone is renting the hall, they are also renting the parking lot and that during the rental it is private poverty. They would not take no for an answer. Eventually, I had to call the local bylaw and they swung by and explained the same thing and they left. Pushy grifters trying to coopt something good for the community that has nothing to do with them.

I learned (the hard way - thanks to a 50/50 in a parking lot) that TD drops your collision coverage (without telling you) if you have any sort of at fault in a 5 year time frame. Probably safe to assume the worst with TD.

Yep. Can't wait to have to sell my house for a song because everybody's going to be doing the same.

Even if it was a cause I supported I'd be calling them out. Like, c'mon, we're on vacation. Leave that #### at home.
