Yep there are a ton of warm bodies up front signed for next year. Huberdeau, Coronato, Sharangovich, Strome, Farabee, Coleman, Backlund, Frost, Zary, Klapka and Pospisil are 11 forwards. Gridin and Honzek make 13. Do they bring back Lomberg or Beecher?
Some guys will get moved especially if Huberdeau is back. Although other than a draft pick like Mckenna, not sure any other forwards will be knocking on the door at the start of the year.
I actually think this year's team is going to finish a little stronger than if they had done nothing today. A disinterested Kadri wasn't going to be a difference maker, and they may have picked up a couple of vets who will play with something to prove.

This! Waking up this morning and catching up, I get more and more impressed with Conroy´s work.
IMO Craig has showed masterclass skills in asset management this season. Not only aquiring a lot of picks, but also aquiring low key, undervalued prospects that might excel plus solid veteran pieces to guide the young, reach the floor and with the potential to bring even more pieces come next deadline.
I don't think the additions of Whitecloud, Strome, Maataa and Olofsson get enough credit. Might be looked at as cap dumps blocking youngsters by some, but from my point of view they are solid veteran additions, not making the team better but staying somewhat competitive (but still a bottom team), cap compliant and probably used to aquire more assets next season.
Impressive!

Hoskin is definitely a winger, but Matveiko is a center.

Overall I'm quite happy with Conroy's overall work as well. He's staggered enough picks over the next few years; got some mediocre prospect trades in to hope pan out in the mean time; and has some pieces who can gain just as much trade value this time next year (Whitecloud and Coleman). Only thing missing is a couple high picks which hopefully they'll address by bottom feeding the next couple years. All in all, happy with how things turned out.

Crazy, the Flames will play against Andersson, Weegar, and Kadri (3 times!) before the end of the season.

Great! They can help with the tank.

All these centre prospects coming in really gives me the feeling that Calgary wants one of those top wingers badly at the draft. But if they don’t get the wingers I can definitely see them taking a top D. What a wild week.
Conroy is really doing excellent work. Even though no blue chippers in the deals, I think he has done awesome things still.
Sad to see great vets go but I’m very excited for the youth movement.
What do we think happens with Olofsson? Straight to UFA? Or short deal to pump value?

Now that Conroy has pulled off his 10th trade of a vet for picks and prospects with almost no deals where he trades away picks and prospects for players I am starting to think that the Flames may be rebuilding. I was not really sure after the first 8 trades but now am becoming more confident that that is the plan.
I am still irritated that they will not say they are rebuilding (as any irrational person would be) but I am starting to think they are rebuilding even if they do not say they are. Although if they do not trade Coleman before the start of next season it will be a worrying sign that they are reverting back to the old Flames just trying to win to squeak in the playoffs.

Conroy actually did say rebuild yesterday and followed it up with something along the lines of “I’m not afraid to say it”

The Weegar trade does open up a spot for Verhoef if he’s the BPA when the Flames’ pick comes up if they drop in the lottery. Maybe that was part of the motivation to trade him.

This deadline was amazing for all angles.
Laf is tearing it up since the Panarin deal. They might not be that bad now that Fox is back.
St Louis is still good. Schenn was having a bad year.
Chicago should be better with Bedard healthy
Need to finish bottom 2

Maybe not actually putting forth an offer sheet but trading for the players, similar to what we did with Lindholm and Hamilton. It would seem that the Devils will move on from Simon Nemec, for example. I don't know if this is a good fit for the Flames, since we already have Parekh but just an example of a player that may be available.

I'm guessing (only guessing) that Huberdeau returns two months into the season and struggles. The discussion will be about a full summer to get his stride back, but then struggles again in 27-28.
Then retires.

It is not a full rebuild until Lomberg and Hanley are traded!
