I’ll definitely be cheering for Colorado to go deep into the playoffs. I always respect teams that make big trades and are aggressive to go for it in their window. I hope teams like Montreal and Detroit struggle down the stretch because they were too cheap to spend big and get impact players like Kadri. Would be cool for Buffalo to do well in the playoffs because they have been out of them for so long and because they tried to make some big swings this year knowing they their team deserved some support after playing so week the last 3 months.

Could be a trade partner for the Flames to move up if they are planning to maneuver into a spot to snag both Rucks twins. Trade them a couple 2nds for the Detroit 1st and grab them with the Vegas and Detroit picks maybe.

It’s funny how it started last year and continues this year where St. Louis has become the flames’ nemesis where they are always in similar positions aiming at the same goals. Even over the next 3-5 years… their rebuilds will likely parallel each other in terms of selling assets to picks/prospects and drafting high.
Obviously we should try and get value off of expiring contracts but there was alot of the big demolition work complete this week.
It finally feels like its time to start building it back up.
Loaded with picks and prospects, poised to pick top 5 maybe even top 3 and a clean roster.
The future is bright.
Agreed that the majority of the year down is complete. I don’t think there are any more vets that the flames will look to trade that will return really valuable assets (i.e. 1st round picks).
I really hope the flames focus on building pretty much exclusively through the draft over the next few seasons. By that I mean I would prefer that the flames avoid selling any picks to get players that are >24 years old. Adding players like that could prematurely move the flames up the standings in the next couple seasons before they start getting their elite players in the draft. Be patient and build from within for now. After drafting high for the next 3-4 seasons, they can maybe start making moves like Montreal did last year (acquiring Dobson) if they have holes in their lineup that they weren’t able fill through the drafts.
Pretty bad trade deadlines for Minnesota, NYR, and of course the Oilers.
I don't think Minny has anything left to trade after the Hughs thingie. For a team that's been operating on a constricted budget for ages their moves must be a revelation for the fan base.
And the Oilers blew their load on 2 4th line centers a couple days ago.
