Im at a 9. Craig has acknowledged the reality of what the team is, and did what needed to be done, and accumulated an incredible number of assets to move forward with. Add in a very likely high pick this year, and the team is suddenly looking at a way brighter path forward.

9. Close to as good as anyone could have reasonably expected.

Who even had a good deadline?
Calgary
Colorado if they win a cup
Dallas?
Blues
I bet most teams fans are pissed right now for one reason or another...Calgary is certainly in the top 5
last minute deal won the Panthers the cup, I think this does the same for the Avs

The Kadri trade saved the deadline so I gave it a 8. A 9 if Pachal is similar was traded. A 10 would be if they traded Coleman.

So happy.
Next is finish 31st and play some young guys in bigger roles. Las Vegas falls off and that pick is in the lottery!!!! We win the lottery or pick 2nd and get McKenna and we hit on a major difference maker with at least one of those 4 2nd rounders!!!!

This really feels like ripping the bandage off the wound that is the Flames this year. They were obviously a bad team right from the start of the season but now that they have lost Kadri, Anderson and Weeger it really does emphasize the intention of tanking. They were the last veteran players with any semblance of value. Ultimately even Strome feels like a move to get the Flames to the cap floor and then have some trade value as a rental next year.
I think that these are the moves that the Flames had to make for their long term success but there are going to be some really bad games in the next couple of years.

The last 48 hours have reinvigorated my interest in the team. This has been such a breath of fresh air. I am more interested in watching the team over these last 20 games than I was before.
Unbelievably happy.

That 2028 pick won't see the lineup until likely 2032 - six years away. I like that Conroy focused on the center position for the prospects he got back. Now let's see them turn into something that plays in the NHL. That will increase the number.

I don't mind that the draft picks are spread across multiple years. Some years drafts are just duds, and Vegas could actually fall off down the road. Plus having high picks in multiple years will let the staff focus on the individuals easier than if every pick comes at us all at once in a great deluge.

Yes, but small market Canadian teams should be very reluctant to ever trade first round picks.

Gave it a 8 (thinking about it, shoul be 9). Really happy with the trades and we can always trade coleman/whitecloud next year. Strome should boost his value with our center depth wide open
Just wished we weaponized our cap room by taking on some bad expiring contracts.

LAter picks I get BUT...generally at the same time, a lot of the contenders shopping for these either only have later picks available, or got a few pieces which may have eaten up earlier picks etc. Oh well, time will tell, but the fact that they got Kadri sent off with minimal retention is great in my mind.

10.
Thought we'd move Kadri and Coleman. Weegar was a bigger move than Coleman. Add 5 more bullets in the draft and a couple of great prospects. The Flames moved their best forward and d-man, which should solidify the tank and hopefully lead to a top 3 pick this year.

9/10. But, I would really only give a 10 if my socks were totally blown off.
With that said, I'm extremely happy. Connie with some tidy work.
And I have to say, I'm really loving stacking picks in multiple drafts. That's what you need if you want to build a top team, especially in a small Canadian market. Our scouting staff with all these top 60 picks over multiple years..? I like our chances.
Also, don't sleep on that Strome trade. Sneaky little move there by Connie. I'd bet good money they get that guy back up to 0.5 ppg, retain on him next deadline, and get at least a 2nd back. Top level asset management.

8/10, no bad trades were made, we received a schwack of draft picks and further secured a top pick this year. Only places we could have improved would have been getting a first round pick for Weegar and better prospects. Without knowing what the other options were, we did well today.

Some nice returns but always a touch sad when we lose good people/players.
