Leafs sat OEL. Flames can’t sit Coleman or Kadri.

For that, give us the premium prospect. I don't care about pucks anymore. Flames are gonna have a glut over the next 3 drafts.

Problem. Laine has a 10 team no trade list and you can probably be sure Calgary is on it. So why is he waiving it to come here?

Opportunity is the only thing we have to offer. I agree though.
Genuinely don’t know how the flames trade either guy let alone one of them but who knows

I won't be. I've said it for a couple of weeks now I don't think there's much meat on the bone in a Kadri trade even with retention.

Because he's given his agent permission to find another team, not a lot of teams want him, and if he wants to continue in the NHL he needs a place where he can get some price ice time.

They didnt even sit Andersson when a deal was basically done (before it fell apart last moment).
This is a Calgary Flames thing. They just don't sit players, even if a trade is 99.9% completed.

If Coleman isn't traded after insiders have been saying the market for him was hot hot hot would be very disappointing.

Exactly. And how we had a bunch of good offers on Kadri.

The issue has never been whether ownership is involved. The issue is whether ownership refuses when the GM asks to retain. Given the process over the last few years, it seems reasonable to believe that ownership would not refuse if Conroy asked.

Yeah, put me in the camp of not liking the risk management of playing guys that may well be traded. Not much upside, but potential big downside if a player got injured.

Occam's razor: the Flames want to trade both Coleman and Kadri, but need a team to accept one without retention. No one has agreed yet.
Or, I guess we can just get mad at Edwards again. That works too.

I don't think Kadri has missed a game since 2020. Has to be among the NHL's ironmen.
Guys like him don't like to miss games unless it's necessary.

This is well covered ground but they did ask him and he would not waive. This has been established many many many times on this forum.

doesn't fuss me as much esp for Coleman- what's his trade value this year somewhere between a 1st and a 2nd? next year somewhere between a 1st and a 3rd? if he gets injured still accomplishes the main goal (if we are being crass about it) of helping the team tank/lose games
Kadri, I think his trade value is more fluid and may be closing, but again even an injury brings us closer to bottom 2 in the standings
