I'm no fond of either person to be honest. The casting this season was weird - some of the chefs seemed totally incompetent. Did they cast them because they were good chefs (or potentially good chefs) or because they would make for entertaining cast members? Clearly the latter.

But I think Rock is probably the best chef of the group. He seemed to cope with the pressure best, except for his little hissy fit. But during service itself he rarely screwed up while everyone else had some bad moments.

I dont know if Rock is better than Bonnie the blonde.

Rock looked strong early on but he is an experienced chef. The experience shows; he was clearly a better with food and better with bossing people around than many of the other contestants. That doesnt mean hes great in the context of being able to run a kitchen in 5star restaurant.

Bonnie (similar to Julia the short order chef and Jen the party chef) have clearly shown their lack of experience. But they each have shown HUGE improvements and great abilities with food.

If this was Survivor or Big Brother type show then Rock might have won and Bonnie would have never had made it to the finals. I really dont think any of them are ready to run the restaurant thats the prize. Rock might do well running an Earls but I dont think he has great potential. Bonnie should run an Earls and then might have the experience needed to run a better kitchen.

Well, I'd say tonights episode cleared things up. Rock's team had a little bit of trouble in the beginning, but it's hard to fault Rock for that.
I think Bonnie could have taken it, but when push came to shove, her lack of experience really came to front. This was especially true in the communication and the incorrect preparation.

The fact that Bonnie and many of the other finalists didn't have restaurant experience pretty much sealed the fate of Rock winning. Brad was the closest, and Jen was sort of there, but really, are you going to entrust a multimillion dollar restaurant to someone with zero fine dining restaurant experience?

Rock may have won $250K and an Exec Chef position, but I'm fairly sure Bonnie will make that much and more..... via Maxim and Playboy deals. On top of a job offer somewhere.

Ramsay's part showman, and all chef, so it wasn't exactly surprising that the uber cute Bonnie made it this far... Following his trend with Virginia from HK2.

While I thought Ramsay made the right decision in picking Rock, I was still rooting for Bonnie. Rock irritated me. He had a big ego, he talked about himself in third person, he threw a huge hissy fit that one episode. I guess I was just tired hearing himself always talk above everyone else. He did seem to be a cook chef and was far better than Bonnie in the kitchen during service. Her inexperience really showed through in the final serving, as with her prep. It also helps that she was really cute.

But another surprise was Julia. What a cow. I can't believe what a sore loser she was. I thought the crying fit from last episode was more than unnecessary. But the way she acted was pretty poor in my eyes. She was the only one Ramsay is sending to culinary school, and the only that he is doing anything extra for. And she is acting like a little kid pouting in the corner. Get over yourself, you lost.

That's pretty much the premise every show. The person who he challenges is tricked into thinking they are getting a Food Network special, and for the taping have a big party to celebrate their custom dish....when Bobby rolls up and challenges them. He might have surprise and preparation on his side, but the challengers often have years of experience cooking their speciality so it really is theirs to lose.

Speaking of Mr "Fay", I think Bobby should wear looser shirts or work his man boobies out.

Agreed, but I can't help but wonder if the footage wasn't purposely edited to portray Julia as a sore loser, leaving out anything positive she might have said. Reality shows love to create villians. I was hoping Ramsay would say something to Julia to threaten those culinary lessions. The fact he didn't makes me think it wasn't as bad as the editing would lead us to believe.

Forgive me for forgetting the contestant's names but anyone else think that there were deliberate bumps put in each kitchen last night? For instance Josh(?) continued to screw up the crab cakes. Over 30 minutes went by and he still burned them every time. How does a trained chef with experience continuously screw something as simple as that up over and over again? Seems more like it was deliberately done in order to add drama. Could say the same about Julia's little attitude toward Bonnie.

Not saying it was a bad thing if this was deliberate, but it did seem awful convenient from a producer's point of view.

Josh was burning stuff the entire season. He was pretty incompetent really. I think what the producers do is make sure they cast a few people that they know are going to screw up and create drama. Thus they don't need to actually script any scenarios - just have confidence that the boobs you've cast will meet expectations.

Which is too bad. That's why I enjoyed watching Top Chef more that this HK - more cooking skills, but still enough drama for me.
