You could almost certainly move the 2 early 2nds for a late first at the draft if the number is the concern...then you still have another 2nd
This trade tree is going to be wild to follow

OTT is likely a non-playoff team as well. Eight picks, and 6 of them are from crap teams.
The draft is going to be so fun - more than making up for a season of rebiggle-hockey.

Vegas, who has 12 out of their final 20 games against playoff teams. If you assume they go 2-8-2 in those games and they go 6-1-1 in the non playoff team games they would end up 91 points. It is entirely possible that Vegas falls out of first place and if they did that first round pick this year is around 19th overall.

Good example of the word bust being thrown around way too loosely.
He's going to play at least 500 games by the look of it, which I'm guessing is pretty close to the 21st overall averages.

I know it was inevitable for guys to get moved and he wasn't having a good season but I'll miss Weegs. He was a good guy and obviously a leader in the room. I wish him luck in Utah

Feels like it's been awhile since we've had a Finnish player on the Flames. Love me some Finns!

He's also a good example that if you are big and a centre - you will get endless opportunities. If he was a winger or 5'11 - he'd have been in Europe the last 7 years.

I don’t know how anyone can say one draft will be better than another. Only with 10 years hindsight.

You don't know until the history books are written. But you can - and have to - assess them as they come, based on evaluations at the time.

That 2012 draft is crazy, so many misses in the first round where the majority of the best draft eligible players were not drafted up high.
1st round notable players: Morgan Reilly, Hampus Lindholm, Filip Forsberg, Tom Wilson, Vasilevskiy
Other rounds: Matt Murray, Parayko, Slavin, Hellebuyck, Ullmark,

This is the 2nd trade where Conroy has said this gets Parekh on the powerplay.

Friedman said in a radio hit today that he wasn't sure that Castagna was going to sign in Utah. Has heard really good things about him as a player
Also heard that the Flames room didn't see this coming, players are shocked and there's a real ripple effect there
Doesn't know if Maatta will be flipped right away

RHD the torch is fully handed over to Parekh, Whitecloud and BRZ.

He's currently 20th among 21st OA picks in games played. 19th place in points. So pretty OK.
The expectations were mostly about Feaster's hyperbole I guess.

Liking this trade, especially the 2nd rd picks. I see us going after both of the Ruck twins with these picks.
Flames development and scouts have probably seen a lot of them whilst keeping an eye on Reschny. On the other side of the coin, if the flames are checking in regularly with Reschny, similar to Wyttenbach, that could sell the Flames to the twins.
Get ready for the Sedins 2.0 flames edition.

Not going to cruise through the thread but I saw StrangeBrew mention his sons becoming teenagers and how important it is that the Flames don't lose any generation of young fans like we did the last few years. The two guys up north and two playoff runs and have cemented so many Oiler fans recently and yes quality good role players are nice... Backlund, Weeger, Rasmus, etc aren't moving jerseys and making life time fans. Get stars like McKenna and start building a team. It's by no means guaranteed but enough of barely swimming with our heads above water
