If I was an undercover agent working as the Oilers' GM trying to sabotage them...the team I built wouldn't be this bad. I would've been too scared to blow my cover to let Holloway and Broberg walk, let alone continuously give up assets, cap or roster spots for players that were on waivers in the last couple of years. The level of incompetence is almost unbelievable. If not for the constant of E=NG, we would all be wondering who paid who off for them to be this ####ing bad.

Here’s one…if you ignore everything that happened on one side of the trade, and compare it with trades that don’t really align, it’s still terrible. Imagine removing the protection on the first round pick and forgetting to mention that!

Completely made up analogy time.

I bought a 2nd hand dishwasher last summer.
I could have bought a basic model for like $500 bucks, but instead I bought a used top of the line model for $1000.

It did a terrible job washing my dishes.
Then it then blew up and flooded my house.
I then had to pay a plumber $1000 to fix the damage it did. But hey, I got him to throw in a new basic model dishwasher for $400

So, like yeah, maybe I spent $2k that I didn't need to.

BUT, if you completely ignore that, you have to admit, a new dishwasher for $400 bucks is a pretty good deal.

I have trouble discerning who is the dumbest of edmonton media personalities.

They all take turns out-stooping each other in intellect.

Spector is aggressively bad though. He's been called out by players and colleagues and just gets up the mat to deliver something more mind numbing or tone deaf the next day.

How are they all so lacking in the self awareness department?

I think Staples is the undefeated, undisputed champion in this regard. His takes are so consistently ridiculous that they often read as satire. His political takes are just as awful. He's just a truly stupid human being.

Spector exists in the spectrum of most journalists where he has some honest evaluations, some that serve the team marching orders, and some that are intended to be attention-seeking click bait. But he is towards the extreme end of the spectrum. Staples isn't even on the spectrum.
