Probably a bit of posturing at this point too - "give us a reason to sit them out"
But it's still stupid and needlessly risky.

Baffling mindset. Genuinely wonder what would happen if one of them got hurt. What a needless risk.
I also don't buy any culture argument for this at all, these are grown men, they're not teenagers, they know what's going on.

If the situation is as follows: teams have come to the table and have actually met your "minimum price" to trade the asset, and you are simply trying to extra further value between two competing teams etc... - you hold them out of the line up.
If the situation is: no one has yet met your "minimum price" and you won't trade them with the best offer currently on the table - you play both assets. Ups the anti for the potential suitors. If you want these players for your runs this year, better step up the offer because we aren't moving them now, we are happy going into next year (neither on expiring deals) to try again, so if YOU are worried about the piece you want getting hurt, pay the price.
IMO - the Flames are clearly in the latter bucket with both, so IMO it's the right move to play them. Not saying there is no risk, but it's the right move.

Damn
1. Tre, got his 1st.
2. Agree, would seem Colorado didn't meet Conroy's price.

I am guessing neither Kadri nor Coleman move before the deadline.
Oh well, they aren't going to prevent the tank and if they play like #### it might actually help.
Losing Weegar this year might actually sewer the tank worse than anything.

Agreed, that takes one of the most viable suitors out of the biding. Makes it much more likely Kadri stays. Obviously it would be great to get it done this deadline, but I'm also aligned that they shouldn't do it if their price isn't met this year.

They have rarely been blown out this year. My guess is it gets really bad for the goalies soon.
It only takes a 10% decrease in effort to see a significant decrease in on ice performance.

You can just not accept the offer if they suck. There is no rule that says you have to accept bad offers after you sit guys.

Coleman is getting 2nd round minimum based on the trades happening.
CC is holding out for a 1st, but I wouldn't say a 2nd for Coleman is terrible value. I would still pull the trigger

Yeah - I think Coleman should be gone if you can get a 1st which I would sure hope you can if there's ~15 teams kicking tires. Strike while the iron is hot.
Kadri goes in the summer I bet.

It's not a culture argument. It's about negotiations and whether there are actual deals pending. You could make the argument that you should hold out these players because you might trade them from the beginning of the season. It only actually makes sense to do so if there's a deal all but signed.
Though as a father of two guys in their 20s, you seriously overestimate the maturity level of your average NHLer.

Why? There is no pressing concern to move him. By all accounts he is a fantastic flame and an excellent veteran to keep around.
You don't need to trade him for the sake of trading him.

In a vacuum, he's a top-6 two way forward that should be worth a lot. He has lost PP time this year between the Avs completely flaccid PP, and Landeskog returning, but despite that he's still on pace for around 60 points. In said vacuum, he's only really available for at Top-6 swap, or a Top-4 dman, no real reason for the Avs to look for futures where they are now.
Outside of the vacuum, he hasn't been caught for any wellness violations in the past two seasons though that issue doesn't just go away. He also has issues staying healthy. At the same time, there's no reason for the Avs to sell him as a cap dump as he still adds a lot of value to the team. Which is where I don't think the Dater or AJ Haefele rumors that they are going to swap Nichushkin for Kadri makes sense at all.
If they were to move out Nichushkin, it would be for a long-term roster option. There were rumors from a well connected Avalanche fan that they were looking at swapping Nichushkin for K'Andre Miller before he went to Carolina.
