IW is using Dunlop tennis balls this year and thus far the big servers seem to be enjoying them as aces were up in qualifying and Gabriel hit 10 in his match versus Bellucci.

Gael Monfils eliminated Alexis Galarneau in straights sets and will take on Felix next.

Bianca has a great start winning the opening set 7-6, but then she lost the next two sets 6-0 and 6-1.

Well, it was the usual roller-coaster match from Shapo, terrific first set, horrible 2nd set, and pretty good 3rd set as Shapo takes out Oikos 6-2 3-6 6-4.

When a professional player has rotated between three different racquets in a calendar year you know he's struggling bad as it's pretty unheard of these days. Have to wonder if Tsitsipas is one of those players who's career ends pretty abruptly after early success.

EE, he was changing racquets mid-game (he did it a couple of times) and it wasn't due to breaking a string. His mind is all over the place currently and it certainly doesn't help having a father constantly in his ear while he's playing. Even Mohamed Lahyani couldn't take any more of his chatter and gave Stef a coaching violation.

Between the Dunlop balls and the new court surface (actually it was the same manufacturer last year), a faster court is certainly good news for our Canadians.

Yeah. it's pretty confusing. I think the main takeaway is that the ball is moving quickly through the court and the big servers/hitters are taking advantage. Looking forward to the FAA vs. Monfils match later today.

TSN3 was a little slow off the mark (they must be too busy analyzing all the NHL blockbuster trades) and as a result we missed the first three games of Vicky's match. They have switched over now if interested.

Victoria guts out a tough win over Kimberly Birrell 6-4 7-6 - Tricky conditions at iW today, wind is gusting quite a bit.

Monfils takes the opening set 7-6 - One wayward forehand from Felix was the difference in the tie-break. High quality set from both guys.

That's a big hold by Felix just now saving a break point with a very nice drop volley that just caught the line. Monfils is playing superb tennis though, can he keep this level going?
