Seems to be too much smoke around Kadri and Coleman to not get dealt especially if they've had conversations with Conroy. I don't imagine Conroy wants to treat it like Markstrom where there was an almost, and it carried on until the off-season. So I do think they'll find a way to deal both, and call it a day.

3. Trade Kadri ($2.5 million retained) for a 1st + 2nd + B-level prospect - Conroy holds out as long as possible but ends up including some retention on the Kadri deal to get it done rather than have it linger.
Likely some of those picks will be in 2027 instead of 2026. Either way though… make bold picks with each of those acquired draft picks. Go for high ceiling players throughout.

Can’t imaging Flames retaining over $8M on Kadri.

Kadri must want out more today than yesterday with Weegar gone, probably gets more vocal and maybe opens up his trade list a bit?

I think Lomberg stays and signs team friendly 2 year deal.
Kadri, Coleman and Hanley traded.

I would argue we have received blue chip forwards in trades already.
Matvei Gridin
Cole Reschny
Most of the picks that Conroy has received in these trades have not taken place yet but he has already received one guy (Gridin) who certainly looks like he at least has the talent to be a top line guy and another guy (Reschny) who looks like he could be a top 6 guy.

Too risky to keep Kadri, he is a must trade
You probably can get the same value for Coleman in the summer

Didn't Ryan Pike say he thought there was only a 20% chance that Kadri gets traded?
Coleman, almost a sure thing.
Seems like the Flames will only make one trade (excluding very minor trades).

All due respect but neither he or anyone else saw Weegar being dealt yesterday. Anything can happen. Anyone can go.

I said it was a minor gripe to be clear. But we also drafted both of those guys. The last “prospect” in a trade that was exciting at the time of the trade was probably Hunter Brz because he was lighting it up in the OHL.
Instead all the prospects have been guys we all have to google.
Not the end of the world but it would be nice to get for example a Helenius or Callum Ritchie type guy we all could be immediately excited about instead of a “we will wait and see”

Need to see Coleman and Kadri moved in the next 24 hours, and hopefully for a blue chip prospect or two. We have the draft capital, now is the time to start adding some higher end prospects that will really become the core of the next generation team.

I wonder if the flames dangled Lomberg for WiFI and that’s where that rumour came from?

That’s fair. I am completely comfortable with Conroy’s approach to load up with draft picks. I think eventually you have the ability to make trades for those types of players or maybe you offer a guy like Dorofeyev a contract that Vegas cannot match and acquire young players that way with the cap space and the abundance of picks that you have. 5 million bucks for Dorfeyev would be hard for Vegas to match and it would only cost the Flames a 2nd round pick.
I would like to offer sheet Dorofeyev if only to weaken the Knights for next season.

Yeah I don't think they will get blue chip prospects for either of those guys. Weegar was the guy I thought could return that which is why I was underwhelmed with a quantity over quality trade.
Hopefully they can get a 1st included in any deal for Kadri and Coleman and add two more firsts.
This team will have to draft their own blue chippers as I don't think they are trading for one.
It's actually I think the only real flaw of Conroy's tenure. He's been able to generate fair trade returns with strong quantity as part of the return, but wasn't able to shake out any blue chip pieces.

Conroy loves scouting and the draft though, so I think he'd actually rather the team make their own picks.

losing their 2027 1st rounder as compensation for an offer sheet would be unwise; $5M falls in the compensation range of 1st and 3rd (if I can trust Gemini)

5 million this offseason would be a 2027 2nd round pick.

Trying to think of the best prospect Arizona/Utah traded for in their rebuild. Probably Jack McBain? Mike Kesselring?
These top guys don't get traded. You have to draft them.

They may if the deal now starts looking like Kadri + 2nd rounder or Coleman + 2nd rounder or CGY 1st + 2nd round picks for pick or player X.
Conroy has done this for a reason and I'm betting it is because he's been hearing prospect or player x isn't on the table unless he can offer more capital in return. He may also want to take a run at an offer sheet and having these extra assets makes losing your own more doable.
