Which is why the prospect is probably better. Lamoureux is a RD. We don’t need.

Whitecloud > Maata
Vegas 1st < Utah 1st
Even if the Utah 1st isnt this year, there is a better chance of it being in that 10-20 range than Vegas.
Anyone got the details on Maatta? Why has he only played 3 games this season

1 heavily conditioned pick and 1 mildly conditioned pick. The only condition on the Vegas 2027 pick is it's top-10 protected, in which case it becomes a 2028 first.

Well Maatta has negative value so if it is the same value as the Rasmus trade it would be more to offset the huge difference in value between him and Whitecloud.
A first, 2nd and a decent prospect (better than Wiebe) would be more than enough for me though with Maatta.

same goes for Coleman and Kadri too if we move them.
This isn't a rebiggle, this isn't even a rebuild. It's full-blown arson, and I'm here for it.

Maatta, Conditional 2026 1st and Gabe Smith, please.
Smith looks like a higher floor, sandpaper 3C. Possible fan favorite type.
Exploded in his D+1 with 64pts in 52 games in the Q.
A western style player stuck in the Quebec league, could be a late bloomer.

Not a big fan of prospects in the Q - Its a very weak league compared to the rest.

Don't know much about Beaudoin but would love to hear from CP prospect geeks. In the meantime while waiting I thought this was an exciting write-up: https://thehockeywriters.com/3-utah-...hockey-league/
Cole Beaudoin Utah HC
Cole Beaudoin, Utah Hockey Club (Photo credit: LA Kings)
The most interesting part of his season is ranking third across the league with 22 power-play assists. He is only three behind the league leader, Christian Humphreys, a Colorado Avalanche prospect, who has played 10 more games than Beaudoin.
With the Mammoths’ biggest weakness being their power play, they have to be loving what they’re seeing from Beaudoin quarterbacking the Barrie Colts’ power play. Combine that with the size, speed, energy, and work ethic that have always made him a valuable prospect, and he could be another guy in the running for a full-time NHL role next season.
The Colts and Beaudoin are in a loaded Eastern Conference in the OHL with the Brantford Bulldogs and Ottawa 67’s. Wearing the ‘C’, Beaudoin has high expectations to lead a Colts team ranked in the CHL’s top 10. It will be interesting to see if this team can fight through for a Memorial Cup spot.

Maata has negative value though, so you'd still need an asset the quality of Whitecloud AND then the cost of the negative value of Maata cap dump for 3 years

Not sure I agree with Steinberg on this one.
1st rd pick definitely.
Flames should get a better prospect than Wiebe, although I do like Abram as a prospect. Whitecloud > Maata, nevermind the Flames are taking on term in Maata.
Plus Weegar is signed at a reasonable deal for 5 more years, as opposed to Andersson being a FA and wanting much more than that. To me the return should be noticeably better, especially when taking Maata.
