well, there's A LOT more NHLers without any trade protection who could end up in Edmonton tomorrow and not have the option of nixing a deal, like Weegar has. He'll be fine.

Is Salt Lake really a dud city?
Outside of the all the mormons, it doesn't seem so bad. Buffalo has a worse climate by far.
Mammoth are on the right path it seems. A little up and down this year but they're in it.

SLC is a great city.
And as several have said, quite similar to Calgary in many ways

Desnoyers would be fun… but Beaudoin also being from Ottawa is very cool if that’s the trade

Frist is that now (or soon).
Beaudoin will be that in 5+ years.

Sometimes I miss the days where you found out about trades through breaking news updates on TSN. No social media or NTC’s.
When a player was traded he was traded and fans rarely knew anything about till it was a done deal.
Alas. I’ll keep hitting refresh here every 5 mins or so…,,

Haven’t read the thread but I can’t remember a reporter ever reporting a trade is a done deal naming a player that had a yet to be waived clause being the last thing holding it up.
I don’t know if I just don’t follow closely enough but it seems out of line.
Hoping for the best for Weegar, he’s been an excellent player.

Having the ability to complain about how Conroy is too player friendly for most of the year to implying that the same player friendly org is putting pressure on an organization to waive their contractual rights is quite the 180.

I'm not complaining I am saying it's crappy for him. And it is Friedman, not Conroy.

I think Weegar's agent is the leaker. J'accuse.
Calgary and Utah have no incentive to leak and lots to lose. But Weegar's agent could leak so as to fully flush out all the options for his client.

In fairness that's what the NTC is for. It's not his fault if he exercises his contractual rights. At least in this case he's not forcing his way to one team, and instead using his limited no trade clause to its rightful purpose.
I'd still be disappointed, but it's not Weager's fault.

I don't think many people are suggesting the leak came from Calgary.

Well Friedman reported it but who do you suggest leaked it?

So you think Friedman is putting pressure on him to waive? Why would Elliotte want to put pressure on him?

If you're asking me I would suggest that Utah has a lot to gain and not much to lose from leaking it.
