Weegar has always shown to be a competitor and Utah represents a real chance to compete over the next 5 years. The team represents a solid chance to take a run at a cup during his contract, so this may be as good as it gets from his perspective.
He was a rock in Calgary and will be missed, but both parties need to go in this direction. Won’t be hard to cheer for Utah as long as the Flames aren’t in. Strange how it doesn’t work that way for Vegas.
