I don’t disagree but was thinking about a possible deal where Nichushkin went to the Montreal, Kadri went to Colorado and we flip Laine @50% to a contender with picks &/or prospects to accommodate the deal. If we keep Laine it would be for 20 games so not a big deal.

Different years, different circumstances, different trade markets.

I think it would serve the Flames well to focus on making good trades opposed to great trades. If great opportunities present themselves, of course, you jump at it but based on what we’re hearing on it being a buyers market I think a return similar to the two trades you’be alluded to seem like a long shot.

We’re all getting antsy for sure. I suppose if it remains quiet up until Friday it could make for a fun trade deadline day which in recent years has lost some of its luster due some of the bigger names being moved a few days ahead.

Im sure James Duthie is hoping for silence until Friday. There’s only so many Maggie the Monkey type segments he has left in him to fill a day.

Its a tough one because from what I've heard it all hinges on retention, the player does NOT want to be here anymore and now that his name is out there we're approaching Markstrom 2.0 territory.
