I much prefer the insiders on this site saying it is possible both are traded. I am going to choose to ignore Eric Francis lol.

Doesn't look like Bjorkstrand is having a bad year. Why would TB be dumping him?

Bjorkstrand and Coleman are basically producing the same amount of offense and his contract ends this year (Bjorkstrand). Also his cap hit is only .5M more than Coleman

Not sure why Tampa would send us a former 1st rounder or a future 1st for that swap at all.

I believe the new LTIR rules are driving managements insane.

Not Flames related but there was a deal agreed to in principal and the acquiring team got cold feet at the last minute and reneged. Not the right way to do things.

QUOTE=Sec214;9668707]it’s possible if Calgary is willing to take a slight discount. Retention is all but required for Naz and few contenders want Blake with retention some might make the space required but times ticking…Ultimately it’s going to come down to the best offer for either player come Thursday/Friday.

Do I see a world where both are moved…Yes but Calgary is going to have to eat something bad or take an offer less than ideal. One retention spot is well a pain to say the least.

I think Coleman is more desired league wide, while I think Naz has more desire to move on.

I expect to see Calgary weaponize the cap space abit based on my conversations today. 44 Million in cap space. A couple Names I’ve heard are Bjorkstrand, Laine.

Lomberg, Pachal, Hanley, Mack’s name continue to be out there.[/QUOTE]

Isn’t this is what having all the cap space is about? Maximize returns by taking “bad” money back? Yeah, sucks that we only have that one spot left but take money back to improve the return.

Imagine we don’t get Whitecloud if we don’t retain on andersson but man it would have been nice to have those spots for Coleman and Kadri. Not sure if Vegas had additional money to send back which would have saved the retention spot. But have to get creative and have to figure a deal is there.

Fingers crossed that Conny can figure it out and move kadri and Coleman. Hope the market doesn’t continue to shift away from us. Boom all we can do but remain hopeful.

Rebuild is just extending longer by delaying this stuff.

Probably Yzerman. He’s got perpetual cold feet. Either that or Cheveldayoff.

Whose game translates better in playoffs? That’s why they would ante up.

Nichushkin has a $6.125 mil cap hit and 4 years after this one.

it's not that simple. For each deal, there has to be an agreement between both teams, and quite likely approval of one or more players. And there's only one retention slot to play with. It it was that simple, it would have been done already. The delay is not for the sake of delay. It might be that some deals can only be finalized on the actual deadline for cap reasons.

Yeah hopefully this is all posturing from management.

I just cannot see Conroy not trading both. He is a smart guy, it is not like we have Treliving as our GM. And keeping them seems like a Treliving move.

He has a 12 team no trade clause. That might make it hard to move him.

Odd guy to give up when you've got a tough playoffs ahead. Unless it's people smuggling related.
