We'll have the same time as BC, which I like.

Winter is a write off anyways.
We live in a desolate place humans never should have settled in year-round.
Start the work/school day an hour later. Pretty sure thats something the UCP would be on board with given that they're the rebellious teenagers of provincial governments.

If more of the country would agree to do this at the National level, I would be on board with this. Now that Saskatchewan and B.C. are both doing this its a bit more logical for Alberta to do the same. Back when the motion was tabled I voted against it at the time because not enough other jurisdictions were doing it.

IIRC there is a particular area within Arizona that rejects daylight savings and a small island within it that implements it.
At least we haven't reached that level.

It's going to suck watching the Flames out here when they are on eastern road trips, especially those stupid matinee games.

You prefer a 4:00 game over a 5:00 start?
Or 10:00/11:00 vs 11:00/12:00?

I have a feeling that I might feel dumb in a minute because maybe I am thinking about this wrong.
But if everyone puts their clocks ahead next week but then in the autumn, everyone in the EST puts their clocks back an hour while BC doesn't, wouldn't that put BC +4 hours ahead of EST? So a 7 pm start out east would be a 3 pm start in BC? And a 12 pm game out east would be a 8 AM game in BC?
Bear with me, I have been pretty flaky lately.

Sometimes it's simpler to just think about this in terms of UTC. BC is going to UTC-7. The eastern time zone is UTC-4 (summer) or UTC-5 (winter). So either two hours or three hours difference going forward.

Exactly, I've always thought of the mountain time zone as the sweet spot for sporting events.

I still think it’s cool being in New York City or other places in the eastern time zone for sporting events. Monday Night Football starting at 8 PM is a lot of fun in local pubs and bars.

If it were strictly based on longitude, Calgary would be in the Pacific time zone. It's basically got winter DST already, and double DST in summer.

Ita actually better for us. If a game day thread says 6pm it's 6 not 5pm. At least November to March. 8 always watch the game exactly 1 hour after game start so I can miss commercial breaks and intermission by skipping. I know it's not much less math but and subtracting to added math is a plus!
