Sending my thoughts to your family and I am so sorry for your loss. As a rival fan people ask me why I still post on CP. I lived in Calgary in 2009 when my dad passed away from cancer and CP was amazing with how they came through for my family with the messages and support. The community is there for you. Yeah your comment made/makes sense 100%. Sharks have a lot of holes to fill for next year with only 2 dmen signed and they are trying to get ahead of the game. Prices at this year's deadline are great for the sellers so San Jose is keeping that into consideration. Teams are expected to give up more than what past deadlines might have gave. Not sure if the Calgary insiders have heard that as well but that's what the rumor is.

Sharks top priority 4 days prior to the deadline is a defenseman. Schneider from the Rangers is near the top of the list. Weegar would be a really good asset for the Sharks. Watching them the other night against the Flames it is obviously an area they need to stabilize. The Sharks have a lot of nice assets and two firsts in this draft so they could obviously put an attractive package together.

I wonder if the deal was done but Pettersson also won't waive his no movement clause for Detroit.

Detroit isn't a particularly unattractive trade destination according to any of the player polls I've seen. Doesn't even appear on this list:

Especially at 6 years left after this year. I think there will need to be 25% retention for this to work for most teams + Vancouver then might get a half decent return.
