Thomas has a full NTC and conversations around him have intensified the last few days
Assume that all the teams interested in Trocheck are in on Thomas
Utah and Detroit are in it
Utah has been very active in on Panarin and Trocheck. Trocheck is likely not going to happen so they are taking their shot.
A lot of people linked Montreal, but Friedman isn't convinced

Thinks it is a buyers market. Thinks there are more players available than those looking for players

Heard Canadiens looked into Ristolainen but didn't get far
Toronto has had interest in Risto in the past but they are sellers now.

Haula is a guy who impressed at the Olympics but there are a lot of centers out there
Some of the big name centers need to be moved before Haula does.

Toronto not looking to move Matthews or Nylander.
They way this has gone has the Leafs considering not only moving pending UFAs but also guys with contract left

Looked into whether the Oilers would address goaltending and was told no, they made their bed in that department
Was told Oilers are looking for a d man that can play right hand side or a 3rd line center particularly if RNH plays wing.
It has been harder than they thought to move Mangiapane.
Think they looked at Faulk. Unless St. Louis is willing to retain on Faulk it would be difficult for the Oilers to land him.
Think they looked at OEL. Would have to convince OEL to come to Edmonton.

Had a real difficult time on getting to the bottom of what Florida will do with Bobrovsky
Heard it is a challenge for Florida to re-sign him
Don't have a great feel for it
People have speculated San Jose but can't confirm it

Tampa historically doesn't like Rentals but they are also a in it to win it team
If they can add a 3rd line forward who can add some scoring can see them doing that.

Thinks a Colorado Kadri reunion will be tough
What will Makar's number be?
Everything that Colorado does is about that number.
Whenever it comes to a player wither term, Colorado wants to make sure it won't impact that number.
Heard Calgary isn't crazy about the idea of retaining on Kadri
Unless Colorado finds a way to make that work, thinks it is going to be really tough
One of the centers that he hears could end up in Colorado is Laughton and he would be a rental
Would love to see Kadri back in Colorado, but unless they offload money or the Flames retain it will be very tough for them to do that

The Rangers know exactly what the Wild will do for Trocheck and are deciding on whether to take it or trying to see if someone will pay more
Most people believe the Wild have a standing offer for Trocheck
Wild also have looked into Charlie Coyle but doesn't think Columbus is willing to move him

Market for Stamkos and RoR would be excellent
Stamkos says he is not waiving NMC
RoR does not have protection but the Predators promised him nothing would happen without his approval when they signed him.
RoR has told the Preds he doesn't want to go anywhere while they are still in the playoff race and Preds have relayed this to other teams.
Some teams think Nashville will be presented with a RoR offer that is so good, that the Preds will approach RoR and ask
McCarron is a player a lot of teams will like 4th line C

So, it sounds like a Kadri deal to Colorado will only work if the Flames change their minds on retention.

That Friedman update is pretty bleak for us. Looks like a buyers market and we do not want to retain salary which will make a Kadri trade hard.

This makes no sense. His contract is an absolute steal. Not unless they’ve got a bunch of ELCs expiring soon and need huge amounts of cap space. Weegar is a solid pickup with good term and AAV.

I don't think Friedman is right that it's a buyers market.

What UFAs are teams desperate to deal that have to be dealt right now?

Kadri, Trocheck, Thomas and O'Reilly all have term

Coleman has term.

There might be lots of players that terms are willing to trade, but there are very few players that teams have to trade and very few UFAs available.

That still makes it more of a sellers market IMO

Is it that they don’t want to retain on Kadri now, or at all. With only one retention slot available till July 1st, I am assuming they would rather use that slot to increase the return on Coleman. After July 1st they can retain on Kadri when two more slots open up.

I wonder if they're trying to arrange a deal for Coleman that involves taking back a contract or having a third party retain salary – both of which make it more complicated. If they can do one of those things, they can save their last retention slot for Kadri.

Some analyltics wonks think Weegar's recent decline isn't a blip. Bruins probably think Weegar won't he the same player he was a couple years ago.

Teams looking for a bottom six middle six winger could do a lot worse and it seems a few teams do have interest in that type if player If so what could Farabee get in return?

Personally think a second and a fourth or a third even isnt out of line.
