Yes one can certainly understand the views of that gentleman. But there are 30,000 innocent deaths at the hands of the regime in January alone that prove that “a bad government is not survivable”. This was one of the worst governments in the history of the modern world and their demise is to be celebrated.
The US or Iran?

Two things can be true at once, your sentiment and the fear that the US has opened up a can of worms here that may be very, very messy.

What makes you think this is their demise? One man is dead.
There is a very good chance that this void is filled by far worse men who will push Iran to extremes that make the previous leadership look kind by comparison.

All of those countries have a significant U.S. military presence. And the Saudis are onside with the attacks on Iran. No love lost between Iran and the Arab world.

What kind of regime do you think that could look like that would make this one seem kind? Because there was nothing kind about those theocratic thugs with their secret police that brutalized citizens including women who dressed “inappropriately”. I guess North Korea could be a comp. Man I sure hope not. But this one belongs in the dumpster.
I don’t know man. I’m watching interviews with Iranians all over the world who are crying tears of happiness, heralding the dawn of an Iran free of a tyrannical and oppressive regime who offered no hope at all for the people other than to carry on their path of sponsoring and spreading terror and misery throughout the region. But you may be right.
I guess we'll see. You also may be right with your opinion that the rulers that the US/Israel put in place if they are successful with a regime change will end up with a better situation for Iranians. We do have historical events such as the regime changes in Iraq and Libya. Those people CRAVE western style governments for sure.

You realize that the secret police responsible for all those deaths was inherited directly from the Shah? when the clerics took over they just rebranded the Savak, the Shah's secret police.
The previous regime was equally as brutal and the next regime will likely also be just as bad, in the meantime, as in Iraq, several hundred thousand Iranians will die in the civil war that seems likely to break out
Saddam Hussian was even worse than Kohmani, alot worse by far, and yet toppling did not make life in Iraq better but infinatly worse, vastly more Iraqis died violent deaths in the 20 years since the war and the country is still gripped by bloody sectarian conflict, basically all we did in Iraq was get 3 or 400,000 Iraqis murdered and throw all the rest in poverty stricken chaos just to end up with a just as brutal but economically poorer country

There are and have been sooo many worse regimes in the world. Just look at Taleban for a possible example what the country could turn into.
And any commentary on the ~100 young girls killed at class? Or we just conveniently disregarding that to celebrate one murder.
That is awful. I feel terrible for the families of those people.
Where was your “commentary” when the Iranian regime killed 30000 of their own citizens?
I also support the US acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security.
Do you? Or are you conveniently forgetting about this ?
Let me guess, that’s something a Nazi would say. !!
If Ryanair started flights to Tehran for a tenner, the place would be invaded by Brits and Irish.
I could see that going well...everyone gets a complimentary AK47 and a shot of whiskey as they get off the plane and now they're 'Revolutionaries by Default.'

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
So...my planned holiday to Tehran next week? Good or no good?
I'm honestly curious. How much of the world is travelable at this point? Can't go to the US, Middle East, Cuba, parts of Mexico and South America, much of Africa, Eastern Europe... Really all that's left is Canada, Australia, a good chunk of Asia, and the NATO countries in Europe. I wonder if China will become a top destination for Canadian tourists in the next few years?
My guess is that things will get worse before/if things get better in Iran. It’s not like the regime had no plans for succession when the leader was in his 80s.

yeah it's crazy. Used the airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for stopovers when I went to Japan last year ... crazy to think what a difference a few months can make
