I knew I slept in but didn't realize I missed the trade deadline lol
You guys there has been one trade since the Olympic break and it was for the Avs to gain cap space they haven't used yet, nothing has changed!

The Bruins have been engaged with the Calgary Flames all season long regarding several players, a source told Daily Faceoff. The Flames have another top-four, right shooting defenseman available for trade in MacKenzie Weegar, whom the Bruins have interest in for similar reasons as they did Andersson. According to sources, while the Bruins do like Weegar, the term left on his contract (signed until 2031 with a $6.25 million AAV) is something that does cause some trepidation. Additionally, Weegar is in full control of any possible trade given his full no-trade clause.
Center Nazem Kadri is a name that seemed like a decent fit for the Bruins, and while they do seem to like the player, it doesn’t sound like he (and his $7-million AAV until 2029) is atop their list. Based on conversations with team sources, it certainly sounds like the Bruins don’t seem overly high on acquiring an older player with significant term like Kadri (and to a lesser extent Weegar) after trying to get younger just 12 months ago..

I would rather have Weegar than Ras given the choice, all things considered. Hopefully Boston has the same offer ready.

Yeah if anything Weegar's contract is an asset and not a deterrent

I would rather they take Petteri Rimpinen than Carter George in a deal with the kings.

Honestly, if the prospects don’t look great or are not on an upward trajectory… would rather the flame just get picks. They are doing a great job at drafting lately so I trust the flames scouts to select a better prospect if given the opportunity with more picks.

I agree though, he's inconsistent if he's not competing, but that's honestly fair. He's a talented player, but a large part of his game is based on determination. It's hard to have the resolve to win every night when you're on a sinking ship.
Anyways, hoping he gets moved soon. He's costing us valuable tank points.
|
I wonder if he's got some motivation now as he knows his best chance of getting traded to a team he prefers and is competitive, is to play really well.

I wonder if the Canucks are starting to flood the market a bit. Looks like they are hearing offers on DeBrusk and Garland. Those players would likely be considered by similar teams interested in Coleman.

This is probably what potential buyers have been waiting for and why they have been waiting to pull the trigger on other deals. I'd rather have Coleman for a Stanley Cup run than those two, but at the very least it changes the market enough in their favour.

I could see league interest in Garland, but DeBrusk is a tough sell. Middle 6 winger who doesn't drive the play in any way and is super-hot/cold. Think Kuzmenko/Sharangovich kind of hot/cold. DeBrusk would be frustrating to watch and a guy you don't want to invest in the term he's got. The only team that could probably make some sense of that contract is Edmonton by swapping Mangiapane++ for him. But even then, the Oilers would still have to ship out some salary. And most of their roster has trade protection. Why you'd give Mangiapane and Henrique trade protection is beyond me.

Garlund and Debrusk are HUGE risks. Garlund has a new contract that kicks in next year at 6m x 6 years with a No Movement Clause. Debrusk also has a No Movement Clause and makes 5.5m for 4 more years after this season.
Coleman looks far more reasonable than those two.

The nice thing about Coleman is that even if the market floods a bit, he is still the undisputed premium version of the thing he is: gritty two-way knows-how-to-win elevate-your-middle-six winger with a ring. GMs love that guy at the deadline and this year we've got him. I'm sure some buyers will cheap out on that and look elsewhere, but I feel pretty confident that at least one GM is going to say "I don't want Blake Coleman lite, I want the actual Blake Coleman," and pay up for him.
