Friedman also suggests the Ducks may have interest in Whitecloud, going back to Verbeek (then with the Lightning) pushing to sign Whitecloud as an undrafted free agent, eventually losing out to the Golden Knights.

CLEARLY this shows tha Conroy waited to long to accept the trade that met his price and now those offers are gone and he waited to long

NSH is currently 9th in the west
2 pts behind SEA
3 pts behind UTH
5 pts behind EDM with 2 games in hand
and they have the 9th best record in the NHL since the beginning of December.
There is no way O'Reilly is traded, unless they lose their next 4 games before the deadline.

If your outlook is negative, the only right time to make a trade is any other time than when the trade actually occurred.

Stamkos could move too I've read.

I read that he said he didn't want to move but was willing to consider it if the team wanted to move him.
And again, NSH is in 9th and is playing better than the teams ahead of them.

If the Flames make it look like they are desperate to trade Coleman and Kadri, then they will get desperation prices in return. They have to leak that they DGAF if they are traded or not, or that the prices aren't good enough.

I expect Coleman and Kadri to be traded, but based on the Markstrom deal and Andersson not moving at the last draft, it is possible one or both of those remains on the team until the summer.
It would be silly to blame the team for this, but if a GM wants one of them -- and plays the situation out like Fitzgerald did for Markstrom -- I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it goes.
The nice thing with how the Markstrom trade went down is that teams now know Conroy will hold onto his player if he has to, so meet his price or the player won't be traded.
EDIT: And if the Flames feel teams are playing like this, we'll probably hear more and more from the media that the team is willing to hold the players... And Dreger will likely even cite the Markstrom situation.

I'll be sad to see Kadri go. He's been a great Flame. Timing just wasn't right. Wish he hadn't blocked that trade from Leafs to the Flames all those years ago (although I doubt he regrets it - he got his Stanley Cup).

You know what I like Rhett. I don't agree with them, but I like that they give a ####. Go Flames Go.

I hope this is sarcasm. Sources have posted that cap accrual is a major factor. Coleman happens Friday.

A few folks getting sweaty palms for no reason. Hit pause on the meltdown and relax. It's FRI-DAY.
Also, these insiders -- EF, Dreger etc -- they have to do radio hits, articles, tv hits. They're just saying the same thing for the past week just in different ways.

Okay

I was going to say information from the media can sometimes just merely be propaganda in an attempt to manipulate wary GM's.
Players will get traded, and the fact it hasn't happened yet increases the chances of the TDL day actually being more active than normal as we have seen in years past teams get their business done early.
The Olympics might have helped increase the chances of it being a entertaining deadline!

What were the offers in December, or earlier, for Coleman or Kadri? I’ll go out on a limb and say you don’t know.
Look, this is no different than any other year. NHL teams wait. They wait until they know where their team is and what the market is. Most competent GM’s would do no different. Why would, for example, Colorado jump the gun and trade for Kadri early in the season? Now, they have options. Nor would it have served the Flames well to fire sale their assets for better lottery odds.
These complaints are tired and lazy. Especially seeing as there is still a week before the deadline.
What is classic is posters on CP getting all whiny about something that hasn’t happened yet.

I think it's pretty easy to see where Rhett is coming from. Does he know the exact offers? No, but he can still draw a parallel to the last Cs dealt. Last year Kadri was having a better season than Nelson. Nelson got a 1st + Ritchie, and got extended for $7.5M x 3 in a contract very similar to Kadri's.
For the first couple of months of the season Kadri was playing with a lot more energy, and was the only C name in the rumor mill. Right now after his cold streak and largely disinterested play in January, the insiders are saying the Flames would need to retain in order to get anything back, which makes it seem as though the Kadri's stock has depreciated considerably.

Last year is irrelevant. He had a full NTC. He couldn't be traded.
Maybe they should have traded him earlier this season, but I don't buy that teams are suddenly more concerned about his contract now.
