Of all the problems with the Oilers, Darnell Nurse and his constant regression has to be the worst. 775 games in the NHL and he continues to get worse season after season.
I can't explain it. I know he's not the smartest but don't players usually make fewer mistakes as they gain experience?
Only four more years left, and nmc falls off end of next season. $9 million cap hit. What a disaster for them. Imagine if you had $9m to sign a competent defenceman.

They would probably just pay Walman 11.5m and Bouchard 15.

In a normal season they would already be out of it

My goodness. Just for kicks I was looking at the Oilers cap situation.
Right now under contract/hitting their cap they have:
12 forwards
6 defencemen
2 goalies
Total cap: $91.6MM
Under contract for next year they have:
9 forwards
5 defenceman
1 goalie
Total cap: $89.9 MM
After clearing 5 roster spots they'll have an additional $1.7 MM to work with.
They've committed so much money in raises...on LONG TERM DEALS, that next year they'll be paying full price to ice 3/4 of this pretty mediocre team.
Love to see it.
Bonus fun fact: Jack Campbell gets a raise next year too!

This just in from Spector somehow forgetting that he literally asked these “troll” questions yesterday:
“They are equal parts troll and abject stupidity, those voices that question McDavid’s big game production.”

Still 8 days for McDavid to request a trade.

Somehow it's never about McDavid enabling his teammates to be better.

Jarry is actually worse than I thought. Although im sure he's used to having more support on defense.
Why'd they veer away from binnington again? Even is he's also .850 during the season at least they'd get tournament binnington in the playoffs as long as they made it in.
Jarry is just Jarry. Between him, ingram and pickard you just have bottom of the barrel slop any which wau you go. At least with Skinner he had bounce back stretches every now and again where he would play like a bonafide #1.
With tending this bad i think there's a real chance they could miss, which would be glorious!

Didn't Binnington nix any deal, because he knows Edmonton it No Good?

It might have to do with the fact that 80% of the time he is on the ice, he has a centerman on the ice that doesn't play in the D zone. So, he ends up trying to cover multiple guys but ending up not being able to cover either.
Anyway hope he keeps up the good work for a few more years!

Bowman is a great GM. He has this one incredible trick that he does better than anyone else: taking credit for the team Dale Tallon built.

Is there any player we can trade to the Kings that'll help them get past the Oilers in the standings?
