That was Chris Simon for me, man did he have some downright dirty plays back in the day. Stomping on Rutuu’s ankle with his skate blade, 2 hand stick swing into Hollowegs mouth. He was pretty brutal as far as on ice actions went.

I think it's also hard to separate the on ice and off ice stuff.


For example, I hated Burrows and Cooke more than Kesler while they were active players, but given what has come to light with Kesler since, it is easier to hate him more in 2026.

I tried to keep it to how I felt about the players at the time they were playing.

I’ll pile on with timelines and incidents.

Bertuzzi was no angel, but the assault on Moore was a moment that really smacked me on the head about hockey violence.

We also see the eras on the poll; the “hate oilers”, “hate Canucks”, and “hate oilers again” in the poll.

There are some disgusting players in the poll from any era!

For sure they did, it seems like most former flames weren’t voted for as heavily. I am surprised Gilmour got out in the first round. Him and Kesler aren’t much different in my books.

I had an interaction with Gilmour when I was kid and he was an #######. It was probably my first "never meet your heroes" moment in life.

As a weird side note in life, my wife is actually related to him, but the two branches of the family are not that close.

Having to say I hated one less than the other really is an impossible choice. Like do I carve out one of my eyes or use a chain saw to cut halfway thru one of my femurs. I'd love to just eat the cat crap instead.

I had a tough time between not liking the player v not liking the way they played….and many times both!

Funny thing is when Ahahiem had Kesler and he was being such a doosh to McDavid in the playoffs, I couldn't help but cheer for him.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Kesler the player and the person, but nothing is worse that a player for the Oilers.
