I remember watching Frank as a guest on TV with Ailish Forfar and Justin Cuthbert, and Justin asked a pretty simple question (not leading, but one of those simple questions these shows tend to have), and Frank probably had a bad day and he was barking back. Justin kept his composure, but myself as a viewer wanted to tell Frank to f-off. He's got an ego and he expects people to stroke it. Never been a fan of Frank Seravelli.

edit: listened to the radio interview and damn that was awkward. I really loved that the radio hosts kept at it. Normally you would have a guy lay off to not make it awkward but it was great. That stuff used to happen 30 years ago. Great radio.

I have no idea how it works, but he went on to do his own show, probably from a competing network.

Same as why Burner has TSN and not Sportsnet talent as guests.

For some reason I was under the impression there was some friction between the barn burner hosts and Frank on one of their podcasts and that ended the relationship but I was hoping someone might confirm/deny that.

Frank seems to burn a lot of bridges. Or they collapse under him. 6 of one...

Listening to the clown Seravelli get lit up on Vancouver radio was a pleasure. Wonder if the barnburner guys will pick his brain on the subject.
What an absolute idiot.

Frank's whole schtick is saying inflammatory s### on Twitter (never X) and strolling into a room bragging and rolling his eyes that he got the exact reaction he was looking for.

He sounds like a petulant child on this segment. There's no intellectual rationalization to the dumb stuff he says and he's completely unprepared to defend himself or his viewpoint.

Good for the hosts standing up for themselves.

Frank was challenged to actually defend and articulate his viewpoints for once, and he was completely unable to. So instead he resorted to throwing a tantrum and making himself a victim for being "attacked". While the host was actually rather calm and fair.

he really showed his maga

RIP Boomer.
This i shocking. Not living in Calgary any longer, I often went to the Sirius NHL channel for hockey talk. I didn't much care for him at first (he and Scott Laughlin had a couple of uncomfortable on air moments) and I didn't think he had a great radio voice.

But my gosh did he know his stuff and as you point out, he did research. I really grew to like him - not easy staying knowledgeable on all teams. I had no idea of his illness, and missed any talk of his treatments. You can tell some of the younger guys he worked with there admired him. That is a horrible shame.

Considering the meltdown Frank caused here in Vancouver, and the amount we’re discussing on a Calgary based forum, I’d say he’s the perfect guest for any show.

Agreement is boring.

Good lord what a whiny petulant child.

For the record

Spoiler!

The guys tried to end it peachfully and Frank still acted like a brat. What an embarrassment.

It was great radio. He just came off sounding like the dunce he always is.

I used to question why they would even bother having Seravalli on Barn Burner. He clearly did not like the Flames and would boost the Oilers all the time. It was worse when Sutter was still around, but it didn't go away completely after Sutter left. I recall one episode they had to tell him to cool it off a bit and it seemed like he was pissing them off. He also seemed to have a weird man crush on Pinder.

My favorite was Pinder not holding back on him when he suggested all Canadians should cheer for the Oilers in the playoffs.

I stopped listening to Serravali a long time ago. He always rubbed me the wrong way, and I rarely found him enjoyable to listen to. It felt more like having to get through an arduous task to get some insider info. He just has a whiny, annoying personality, and he likes to troll. I realized a while ago that I simply don't want to invest time into listening to people like this. Plenty of other insiders to pay attention to. Dreger may seemingly throw darts at Canadian teams just to get clicks, but at least he is 100% fine to listen to - never gets annoying. Lebrun is class. Serravalli? I can't even be bothered to learn how to spell his name.
