If you made that your "yes" list and all other teams require approval, that does not leave a lot room for Conroy to trade you without your consent. And I would expect that Coleman's agent would need to fine tune the list a bit by doing a deeper analysis as to which teams have a need for Coleman and/or the assets to trade for him.
It is odd that some posters think that in a multi-million dollar industry the players are demanding these trade clauses but then not putting in the effort to maximize their control within the clause.
Anyway, it is a good thing it sounds like Coleman wants to go and is ready to accept a trade. Hopefully with multiple teams meeting Conroy's price it is a quick conversation to get Coleman's blessing and pull the trigger on one of them.
|
Sounds like a good way to get traded to a mid tier team and not a contender. San Jose would have probably prefered Coleman than the Vancouver trade for example.
Now youare another veteran leadership candidate rather than going to a contender.

Honestly, I look forward to the other side of the sell-off. This is one of the harder phases of the rebuild, IMO. Squabbling over how didn't we get a 1st AND a 2nd instead of just a 1st for our assets isn't all that fun to me.
As of next year, there should be 3-4 GOOD young pieces on the roster where the focus is more on their development and how fun they are to watch. And continued focus on the next draft to add to the young stable of talent.
Watching the Flames kind of stumble around the right windows to sell the last of their tradeable assets is a phase of the rebuild I'm ready to cruise right on past.

Strange to hear the narrative on Kadri from the local media. It seemed like at the start of the year they would get a huge haul if they traded him. Now it seems like (especially on Barnburner) it’s about just dumping the money now.
I keep Kadri before just dumping him

I think what's important now and where you see fans get frustrated is wanting to make sure returns are maximized so that we really do get to the 'we have so many exciting young players' stage rather than stuck in the mushy middle. I think we're past that point assuming a half decent return for Coleman and hopefully Kadri - it will be fun to see the good young talent on the team and watch them grow.

I just don't see Frost and Farabee as the same level of impact or getting the same return as say Andersson, Coleman, Kadri.
Take Kadri and Coleman off the roster and this lineup is objectively bad.

If we dont trade Kadri, I'd be shocked.
Offers have been made, and they aren't bad ones... I'm a bit shocked we haven't seen any movement tbh.
*I'll add its likely posturing and hoping to drive up the price a bit, but this notion that CGY would rather keep him just doesn't add up with what I've heard*

It was never going to be premium prices for Kadri. His age and term were always going to make sure of that. I said it a month or two ago but a 2nd and prospect was probably where they'd end up if they dealt him.

Do you think it is just posturing through the media to say "we could still keep him if you don't knock our socks off"
Or just the talking heads' mouths moving?

It's been implied out there that Conroy is playing the waiting game, seeing if the market strengthens their return. I'm not a fan of this idea. If they're happy with the offers as has been rumored as well, just frickin make the moves. Don't be left holding the bag by being too greedy.

Decent offers could be on the table, but there could be a couple of other teams out there that might be telling Craig, we'd be in with an offer like this, but we want to see where we are after this weekend's games.
And if the offers hinge around a first round pick, getting a first from a team on the bubble is better than a team locked into a playoff position.

LOL...if nobody wants them who's going to take each of those players...you?
A team can only trade someone for whom there is a market. If there is no market...guess what...NEWS FLASH!....NOTHING HAPPENS!
There are loads of players each year whose contract expires without getting traded, because, until they've seen where they stand for the next year, other teams just wait...because these types of players are available for free after July 1.

Maybe. But because both Coleman and Kadri have term, the Flames can be patient with the offers and leverage the idea that they won't trade them unless the offers get better.
It's certainly riskier, and not as fun as a fan to wait, but it seemed to work with Markstrom.

What would this mean to help set expectations?
Is there a 1st++?
Is it a 1st with a cap dumpcoming back/eating a lot of salary?
Is it a couple 2nd rounders?
Not looking for specifics but just curious the ballpark of his current perceived value.
Please ignore if this will get you in trouble with your source.
Thank you

Kadri is low/medium by logic.
The only reason to have the odds higher is based on a talking head that may or may not have actual information.
He could even be fed info from Nonis to create a market that isn't there.
