Kirkland: 32:40TOI, 3.51xGA, 25SCA, 10HDCA, 0.870sv%

It seems as though Kirkland has a lot less scoring chances and high danger scoring chances against in more time on the PK, while Beecher gets bailed by his goalies a bit more.

As far as 5v5 play:
Beecher: 38.5%xG, 42.0%CF, 43.4%FF, 20%GF, -6, 41.8%FO
Kirkland: 51.1%xG, 50.8%CF, 52.7%FF, 54.6%GF, +1, 51.0%FO

I just have a hard time making the argument that those stats are equivalent. Which largely agrees with my eye test.
It's based on me watching them play. I already discussed some of Beecher's numbers in previous threads. 38.5%xG seems to confirm that the 4th line is worse with him on it.

Like I said, he got better right before he got hurt. So the overall numbers are bad, but he was improving.

eg: the game before he got hurt he was 51.6% Corsi (60% 5-5).

Again, it's a case of where I would love to be wrong. And as Cali Panthers Fan mentioned the 4th line C isn't going to make or break the team anyway. I just thought others were more consistent at making plays on both sides of the puck. The coaches, and other fans such as yourself obviously see something I don't.

I was going with career stats...his faceoff stats are good too for his career.
He is also younger than Morton and much younger than Kirland or Rooney who we are including for some reason.

He probably isn't anything great but to say he is better than those three is kinda silly. I think 32 GMs would rank him #1 of that group. They already kinda did.

This team needs more goons.
If we aren't going to have any skill in the lineup, I want to see some fisticuffs.

There is something to this. If you are going to force younger kids into the line up, it would not hurt to bring in a bigger deterrent than lombo.

Aren't we kind of discussing which was the better movie between Battlefield Earth, Showgirls and Jaws the Revenge?

I liked that movie.

It's a classic depends on how literal you are when watching a flick flick.

Corsi is not a good stat IMO. One game Corsi is basically worthless.

But yeah Beecher gets the nod from me just because he is younger. Would be nice to see even a mediocre center prospect come back in a trade before the deadline that could play at the NHL level.

Beecher is a RFA with arbitration rights at the end of the season. Currently at $900,000/yr it probably doesn't make sense for the club to re-sign him.

On a two-way, league minimum he might have value though.

Younger, former first rounder, bigger, faster. Hasn't translated at all yet, though.

Cheap depth even on a one way though.

Can bury the cap 100%

I've only been to a few games live this year but I'm already starting to notice (and appreciate) his unflashy dependability in his own zone. I can very easily see why Huska is giving him more and more responsibility.

Yeah, you can bury his cap, but that’s still real money for the team.

Beecher will be 25 to start the season, and his career high production in senior hockey is 23 points.

I hope Conroy can find a better use of nearly a million bucks of real world money, other than giving a 1-way contract to a guy who is replacement level at best.

Why do you care about Murray's money?

I don't disagree. It's a different role now, but you need the guys who are going to hit to hurt if you're not being good to our guys.

McGratton was a big help to early Johnny and Monny. And I mean, that guy could just look at someone and silently shake his head and that'd be enough to make you crap your pants.
