Would folks on here care to admit
- Did you, at any stage of your career, leverage a relationship from a relative to advance or start that career?
- if not, would you have, if given a chance?

If it's a cool hockey mom story, than post the story or write one.

I didn't gain any advantage from my family (my dad worked in disaster restoration which i had NO interest in. Horrible job). But I sure as #### would have if I could have. The toughest thing in a career sometimes isn't getting a chance to gain experience, when you don't have experience.

Sometimes I feel sorry for the kids that get in this way, so I'll take them under my wing as they deserve a fair shot.
A 25yr+ career where you've clearly never put in the work, survived layoffs or gotten other opportunities due to your mother's connections...well Ai has a point.

I never have.
I would.
My two oldest kids both got their first part-time high school jobs because of my wife's relatives. Our third is almost old enough to do the same.

What do you mean never put in the work? Are you suggesting that Francis doesn't work hard?
Is your premise that Francis continues to gain an advantage from his familiar relationship 25 years into his career?

Ah. So this is another thing where people like to levy accusations absent any evidence but then tag it with “my opinion” so that it’s ok
Got it.

The whole point of building relationships is to leverage them to fulfill your needs and wants. Whether it's companionship, shared interests, career advancement. It's called being a human being.
It's the same as when someone is looked down upon if they come from a wealthy family. What did you want them to do? Reset their bank account to zero somehow and start from ground floor?

Yeah before this gets locked, you don't survive in a cutthroat industry for decades because your mummy got you your start without also being at least competent in the role.

Jiri is a lot of things.
A disgraced former mod, fired for heinous abuse of power (he banned me for three days). A corrupt sim-hockey league commissioner. A liberal commie pinko. And, quite possibly, not the original Jiri Hrdina.
But saying he is Eric Francis is a step too far.

That's a pretty mercenary view of human relationships, imo.
