I'm glad someone WAS selfish. There was too much passing and giving up chances all game. Yet going 1 on 3 and giving up the puck in overtime was too much. McDavid should have tried the same thing in regulation when it was 5 on 5. Possession is everything in overtime, once they gave up the puck it was all but over. It almost happened right before (Binnington stopped it), McDavid should have learned from it.

Not looking for praise. But the rhetoric is comical.

I think the criticism is unfair to some extent, but when you’re the guy it’s always going to be there. Would guess that self doubt is starting to creep in with him given his track record in the big games as well. I would think he feels a lot of responsibility for this loss.

Canada was fine didn't get the breaks. Should have buried one of the open nets.

Looked like the Avs. vs the Flyers or something
One team is far superior but they can still lose

Celebrini was our best forward outside of Crosby. The new kid is going to absolutely dominate this league for a long time.

Mackinnon the guy who trains 23 hours a day and is a cup winner misses a shot a beer leaguer makes in their sleep.
It's Connor's fault!!

Crosby wasn't great in 2010 prior to the gold medal game, but no one remembers that. We all remember the golden goal. Unfortunately for McDavid the opposite happened. Great in the tournament, but couldn't finish in the gold medal game. In sports the destination matters more than the journey, especially when it always ends in a L.

Oh man I enjoyed watching him so much. So much hart and effort. Had some missed opportunities but he was so fun to watch. Hope he’s not too hard on himself but know he likely will be. Excited to watch him for years to come.

It does? Citation needed.

Cooper doesn't ride his top line like the Oilers do. McDavid averages 23 minutes a game. Kucherov averages 20. The Lightning play their 10-12th forward about 12 minutes a night. The Oilers play theirs about 9-10.
If you want to compare to Florida and Maurice, they play their top forwards similarly to the Lightning. Reinhart is at 21:25 and Lundell at 19:17. When Barkov is healthy he plays 20+ as well. They play their 10-12 forwards 9-10 minutes a game.
The actual data shows that Cooper distributes his ice time very similarly to Maurice. Did you look at the data?

In a meaningless tournament. When a Stanley Cup or Olympic gold is on the line, he chokes.

Thanks for clarifying why I personally feel that McDavid was busting his ass trying to win because hes the best offensive player in the world and its 3 on 3 with a lot of open ice. I really couldn’t put it together without your royal proclamation, that Im a devils advocate! At least now I know!
Tongue-in-cheek of course, but I really dont blame him. And I absolutely hate the Oilers, and thus really dislike anything about McDavid. I was on my feet with anticipation when he was making that last rush, not yelling that hes a low IQ idiot that needs to wait for teammates and be ready to protect the house. But I can see why some do feel it was his fault as well, as hes not known for being a reliable back-checker.

I actually would be perfectly fine with it given how well we played in regulation. We play the hand that we're dealt in life. The dominant team won Silver today, while the other team was on the receiving end of some tremendous puck luck and gets Gold.

It really is not, when you are supposed to be THE guy for Canada this is the type of criticism you get when you lose every final. Crosby got ripped by the media before he got his first cup and then he sacked up and learned how to win again and again and again. McDavid is obviously an incredible talent but he has not learned how to win. You can thank that dysfunctional loser organization he’s apart of that can’t develop any player outside the first round for that.
If you are discussed in the same breath as Crosby, Lemieux, Gretzky this is the criticism you get when you can’t win real titles. It is what it is. Amazing player but still not a winner.

Fair enough. I think it's a really lame way to win, but that's not the fault of the players or coaches or anything. No one can take this gold from US.

He's not quite up to McDavid on pure skill, but he's got a lot of the same qualities that makes Crosby great. He's probably not going to put up the career points totals McDavid will finish with, but he's going to be a much more complete player.
