^ I've said a couple times that was a bad choice by Celebrini.

All I am going to say is there is no universe where Kevin Bahl lets Boldy score that first goal. I hope he is in contention next Olympics. The game felt off the moment they scored that

At no point in this conversation have I said that Cooper isn't one of the best coaches in the game. I just don't think he's the best coach in the game right now. Hockey typically goes in three-year cycles of gameplay and what worked four years ago doesn't work now (just like what works now won't work four years from now). Some teams copy winners and other teams adapt to counter it.
Cooper coaches a better version of "Oilers hockey" which is ride your top lines and rely on speed and skill. Maurice rolls four lines almost equally and coaches possession and driving the net. Cooper is get puck, carry puck. Maurice is keep puck, move puck.
3v3 OT and Cooper starts with McDavid MacKinnon Makar, then sends out Celebrini Suzuki Towes for the next draw, and then immediately they start going off to get McDavid MacKinnon Makar back on the ice again, creating a situation where Makar pinches to try to bail out a trapped Celebrini, leaving MacKinnon as the lone guy back (after he just jumped over the boards).
Like, why force that quick change back to the big three again? This is supposed to be a roster of the best players Canada has to offer, but we can't use more than one line?

Man I hate McDavid like the next person because of his oiler jersey, but no one can deny he had a helluva Olympics. To try and pin this on him is really not fair. It was a win by the USA in a skills competition rather than the typical team overtime. I hope the IIHF is able to objectively look at this and change for next Olympics. The medal rounds should be decided by teams not individuals.
Let’s look at this game as an absolute crazy display of chances and saves and heart pounding excitement. The US still has a long way to go to even come close to mirroring Canada’s Olympic history. It was a great game by both teams.

True, which is why D-Men like Slavin are highly underrated.

Will you stop
Cooper has a better record this season and overall...he also won 4 nations. Coaching was great, they dominated the GMG

There's almost no way Maurice wouldn't go back to McDavid asap after the first shift. Every coach does that in OT. You ride your best players because it's a single goal game.

The McDavid hate is comical. If he’s on any other team other than the Oilers, he wouldn’t get 10% of the hate he gets here. Yeah he could have been better, but to ask if he has low hockey IQ or question his drive/effort. Absolutely comical.

Well, if you would have asked me about our chances 3 on 3 in OT, I think 9 out of 10 would pick Canada to win it.

Canada should have won. 100%. But would you really be satisfied with winning in the mickey mouse version of hockey? It's like a mode on EA Sports, it's not real. Doesn't feel right.

He's a good player but is selfish and awful when it matter. In OT he lost them the game.

Hellebuyck went 5-0-0, 1.18 GAA, .956% svs in this tournament. Crazy.

a. He is on the Oilers. So he gets more hate.
b. The decision-making in OT (twice) by him was bad. And he generally didn't have a great game in his choices.
c. His offensive effort is great. He defensive effort has always been lacking.
d. You may need a different board if you are looking for McDavid praise.

Disappointing end result but 3 on 3 OT is just a coin toss. Silly way to end a championship game. Canada was by far the better team in the game, dominant. Reminded me of an NHL game where one team dominates but the goalie is lights out and the lesser team pulls off a sneaky counterpunch win.
Canada was fine didn't get the breaks. Should have buried one of the open nets.

995% of fans and players would choose 5 on 5 BEFORE OT
They did, look on social media. To suggest its sour grapes is dumb. Almost nobody wants 3 on 3.

And in 4 nations he won the game in OT. MacKinnon missed a golden opportunity. I’m more annoyed at him. But I would never question his drive or hockey IQ.

He's getting #### on by everyone across the web, not just Flames fans.
The stats speak for themselves. He padded them against weak opponents and does nothing in the big games

Great goalies steal games, and can steal tournaments. The playoffs are just a tournament. I hope the flames have this in Wolf and really think we do.
Canada really needs to develop this pipeline.
