There were multiple times in the game and tournament when I actually wanted McDavid to take it himself like that (MacKinnon too). When the moments were there he was 1v1 with players flat footed and he stopped and waited. And then when everything was on the line, he became an Oiler again.

McDavid had two shots all game and one of them was the breakaway that he skated directly into Hellebuyck's pads. It was a brutal showing.

He's playing hurt. Missing a step even during the Finland game and he still scored.

Sports aren’t fair sometimes. One team dominated yet the other team won.
Thanks everyone on this forum for making it a fun game to get through.

This is why you play the games. Winner gets bragging rights, but no Summit is required after this Olympics, Canada was far and away the best team this tournament and this game. The US was barely hanging on 5on5.
Then they won on a coin flip. Such is hockey.
This bothers me the most because of the current Geopolitical climate. Eff the US and their mouthpieces. But happy for the truly good ones like the Gaudreaus.

Makar looked like caught an edge too.
McDavid not burning back into the middle to close it off, standing upright is what I’ll remember.
Even just seeing Crosby on the bench here at the end…I feel we far too often to acknowledge that guys brilliance.

I will admit I thought this pick would sink Canada, but he was far far far from issue.
You have a near HOF team and you scored 1 goal today.

While Tkachuk can get bent, I hope he gave McDavid the same bridesmaid chirp he gave Leon.
Love seeing heads explode up north.

One thing I don't understand is why wouldn't you have Crosby on the bench? Can a player who's not playing not be on the bench? Put him in a suit and have him be with them through the game.

In the end what truly cost them the game was that MacKinnon empty net miss.
Still have No idea how he missed that.

I have become more and more indifferent to international sport. I am guilty of caring more about individual players and the quality of play over my own country prevailing. However, when I saw Johnny's jersey being skated around and the Gaudreaus looking on I lost it. I'm glad we won actually after that.
First possession of OT was McDavid at his worst. Not smart.
