On the merits, it should have been 5 or 6-2 for Canada in regulation. But if you don't bury your chances and leave it to a 3-on-3 circus, this is the sort of thing that can happen.
But I doubt USA fans will leave this one thinking they're suddenly the best team in the world. Gold medal winners, sure - but clearly not the better team. Canada takes that 4 games out of 5.
Well, at least it was entertaining until the end.

Not just awful that ended in non-hockey, but that America won with terrorism hockey. All sports keep getting worse because negative, defensive strategies work even as they are atrocious to watch.

Makar makes the stupid pinch to try and keep that puck in when he needs to get back and MacKinnon needed to win the race to that puck.
3 best players in the world on the ice and in the end they were just too nonchalant

The weird thing is for most of the game McDavid wasn’t being selfish enough…passing on opportunities and what not
Then in overtime he gets total tunnel vision
He was the best player in the tourney up until today but was very poor today

In the end, this is always a short tournament and 3 on 3 means luck is even more of a factor.
I feel bad for the team but it's not the end of the world.
Hopefully NHLers will be back in 2030.
